this is what Israel is counting on. You don’t think they are ready to track these idiots right after release? Israels drone and surveillance tracking and tech is more than the Palestinians can even understand exists or knows is possible. the released prisoners will lead to even more intel for Israel and very quickly.
Israel waited until they even knew there were hostages that were alive and worth saving before even beginning negotiations.
Israel will also learn things from the hostages themselves, where they were, who they were with, what happened, and who knows what else
also, the break is allowing Israel to get a reset too. I know friends whose husbands were able to go back home for the weekend, which is a big morale boost. This was hard to comprehend for me, it’s crazy that the geography is so small you can have weekend getaways to your own house then back to the front lines (both in North and in Gaza)

#BREAKING: One of the released Israeli hostages reveals he was held in the attic of a UNRA teacher for nearly 50 days with minimal food and water.
Even the UN is Hamas in Gaza.

Once word starts to spread in Israel of the atrocities likely visited upon the hostages the public's desire to wipe out Hamas will be rekindled.

Fantastic news.

More hostages released. The collective mental discipline, patience and focus the Israeli Government and her people have shown in this exchange has been amazing. They've not been deterred.
Although there's nothing they need to "show the world" and they have nothing at all to prove to anyone. Through these actions, they have indeed shown the striking difference between what a civilized society is willing to do for its people versus the savages they're dealing with.
I'm sure we all hope this fragile truce holds until all of these people are free.
May God bless them all and bring them all home safely.

You might be right about all this. I wondered a few pages ago if Hamas or any of its factions would even have these people back in the fold for the very reasons you state. These people are good for propaganda but maybe not much else. We'll see.
Given the level of decimation Hamas has taken so far, they may not even want to be around these people long enough to strap a suicide vest on them.

The fighters being returned, at least some of them, are viewed as heroes by Hamas and other Palestinians. Shunning them might hurt future recruitment.

It is as if Pandy Facker is someone totally different. I can see that no one believes his two-face act.

My question is if Pansy will now support the Israeli government's decision to not take some hostages.
Or is the Israeli govenment now not doing the right thing by denying a trade, well, not even a trade. Hamas was just going to give them...but they didn't.

I guess what happened on Oct 7 wasn’t enough for the public to get behind an operation to eliminate a threat. History will keep repeating itself until until one side, which should be Israel, decides enough is enough.

How does this current hostage-prisoner exchange end except in total disaster. There’s no way Hamas will release all prisoners knowing Israel will immediately start pummeling them again. Surely Israel has considered this. I’m thinking the remaining hostages will just be viewed as a necessary sacrifice to prevent future incursions by Hamas.

Hamas needs Israel to look bad in this. That is why they did what they did today. Offered a free hostage return that they knew Israel wouldn't/couldn't take.
Now they have Israel rejecting a hostage return that they can exploit. It doesn't matter the real story, they found a way to make Israel say no, so now they can say the hostages aren't the priority.

It isn't that Oct 7th wasn't enough for public support. It's that people have a generally short memory when it involves something half-way around the world.

Three people have been killed and several wounded after two gunmen opened fire at a bus stop on the outskirts of Jerusalem, Israeli police said. The attackers were also killed. Police said 16 people were injured in Thursday morning’s shooting.

Israeli media reported that the two attackers were brothers from occupied East Jerusalem, Murad Nimr, 38, and Ibrahim Nimr, 30. Hours after the attack, Hamas claimed the brothers as its members, saying in a statement that “the operation came as a natural response to unprecedented crimes conducted by the occupation”, referring to Israel’s military campaign in Gaza and the treatment of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. The statement also called for “an escalation of the resistance”.

Hoping Israel put chips in every prisoner they exchanged. that way they can track them.

Ceasefire seems to be history. Automatic fire in the distance on the AFP feed.
