From the US Central Command twitter account:
"In response to recent escalations by Iran & its proxy forces across the Middle East, SecDef Austin directed the USS Eisenhower, a THAAD BTRY, & additional Patriot BNs to the CENTCOM region to increase force posture, strengthen capabilities & ability to respond to contingencies."

We've wanted regime change in Iran for a number of years now, and for good reason. It looks like things may be lining up for the US to take out Iran if Hezbollah enters the war when Israel invades Gaza.

We've owed them an arse kicking since 1979. They've got it coming, but US/Iran war has the potential for getting very ugly.

That's just semantics at this point. Hezbollah has been in the war. I imagine the redline for Israel (and the US) is a direct offensive across the border. Both Israel and the US, and I'm sure other nations, have called on Lebanon to check Hezbollah, which is something I don't think they're really capable of.
ETA: The whole damn region is a powder keg right now. With the tank mishap with Egypt this morning we saw two governments work quickly, almost desperately, to quell any growing negative sentiment with the Egyptian people.

It’s a Neocon project to benefit Israel. Just like Iraq was.
Waste of our time, blood, and energy. And it would make Iraq look like a good idea. The status quo is infinitely better then chaos.

Well the chaos before we invaded Iraq was better than the chaos after we invaded. Maybe we should stay out, or you can go enlist.

Mostly because we’ve got too many small bases scattered across the Iraqi/Syrian deserts.

Nothing ever does. The Shah was, especially in the later years of his reign, a corrupt megalomaniac. His secret police ran roughshod over political dissenters. After the revolution in early '79, he was living in exile all over the world. He came to the US from either the Bahamas or Mexico for cancer treatment. He was only here for a few months before we sent him to Panama (I think. It was ~45 years ago.) He died in the Summer of '80 in Egypt (Again, I think.)
This doesn't justify "students" taking over a US embassy and holding 50+ hostages for 444 days. If you haven't already, read "Guests of the Ayatollah".
ETA: I'm not trying to make it sound like the US kept its hands clean. The CIA put the guy in power in 1953. But by the '70s, he was going his own way, not always to the US's liking. Remember the oil embargo? But it was during the Cold War, so...

Meanwhile, back at the comedy club, Dave Chappelle tries to straddle the fence.
"Members of the audience at a Dave Chappelle show on Thursday reportedly walked out after he criticized Israel's bombing of Gaza and said students supporting Palestinians shouldn't be losing jobs over it.
The Wall Street Journal, citiing attendees, first reported some in the audience shouted "Free Palestine,"in support of Chappelle's comments while others yelled, "What about Hamas?" before some audience members walked out.
The back-and-forth with the audience occurred after Chappelle declared students shouldn't be losing their jobs over supporting Palestinians, according to reports.
A member of the audience reportedly shouted, "shut up," after his statement, which prompted more statements from him about Israel.
The comedian also condemned Hamas' attack against Israel, according to the WSJ, but accused the U.S. of aiding the murder of innocent civilians.
Three students, who attend either Harvard or Columbia, were denied job offers at a top law firm after they signed on to a letter supporting Hamas."

Dave is going to walk a tightrope here because he is Muslim.
Just is what it is.
He’s going to wade in because that is what he does but I disagree with his statements. But I’ll be respectful of Dave’s positions because I find him to be a lot more honest than most of the entertainment industry on a lot of stuff.

Israel's war on Hamas sees deadly new strikes in Gaza as U.S. tries to slow invasion amid fear for hostages
Israeli airstrikes continued Monday to rain misery across the Gaza Strip, the Hamas-ruled Palestinian territory where people haven't had enough food or clean water since bombs started falling on Oct. 7 in response to Hamas' brutal terror rampage in southern Israel. The White House said Sunday that Israel had agreed to allow a "continued flow of assistance" into Gaza after more than two weeks of a complete blockade cut the Palestinian enclave's roughly 2.3 million inhabitants — half of whom are children — off from supplies of food, water, electricity and fuel.
It was becoming increasingly clear Monday that the U.S. wants Israel to not only allow more humanitarian assistance into Gaza, but for the country to let ongoing negotiations over the release of hostages held by Hamas to continue before it launches a ground invasion of the Palestinian territory. Israel said Monday that Hamas was still holding 222 people captive.
Two sources told CBS News the U.S. has sought to slow Israel's plans for a ground invasion in order to prioritize the release of hostages and the distribution of aid, a message Washington is said to have been conveying primarily through defense channels.

Israel’s eventually going to tell them to frick off because they know State is trying to stall them to prevent an offensive.
The only reason one shouldn’t happen immediately is if Israel decides a continuous siege of Gaza suits its purposes better and shuts off supplies to the northern end of the strip.

I don't remember that detail about Iran selling oil to Israel, but I do remember him encouraging the other cartel members to raise the price even higher. At the same time, Iran was exceeding export quotas, so it doesn't surprise me.
And nothing surprises me about Henry Kissinger/Dr. Strangelove anymore.
