So… Iran and its proxies are going to attack Israel, get blown the frick up, and claim Israel started it?

Yes.

Is there a USN LHA/ USMC MEU nearby? I don't remember seeing one in the carrier group there already. I am just thinking of Iran wants to throw their hat in, a group of US Marines nearby might make them think twice.

There is one that was doing training exercises over in the Gulf. They canceled the Trng Op and embarked. Imagine they are steaming to be in close proximity.

26th MEU (SOC) just left Kuwait because of "emerging events."

Not anymore than they would normally since all of those vessels were already at sea, if not already on deployment (at least the American ones).

No shite. I wasn’t asking because of some kind of “ green “ stuff. I was curious.

I burn about 800-1500 gallons per month n the summer just doing fun stuff. Not worried at all about a carbon footprint.

That’s a lot, how does that position us in the rest of the world? And how quickly could we divert all of that if needed for our own efforts? (Just hypothetically I am ignorant to all of this)
very normal for 2 carrier groups to be in med at same time as deployments over lap. Atlantic fleet carrier groups area of responsibility is properly covered.

This video seems almost too futuristic to believe.

****ETA: That's because it isn't real. Some legit sources covering things got duped with this one.****

#BREAKING: New footage of the @IDF’s Iron Beam air defense system shooting down Hamas rockets.
Iron Beam is a laser system that shoots down hostile projectiles at a fraction of the cost of Iron Dome missiles.

Doesn't really look like Arma footage, that's incredible if legit. Human ingenuity is incredible.

That would completely bust the current paradigm issue of defensive Sams costing exponentially more than the projectiles being defended against.

Looked to me like it got two in one shot with the first beam. One close to the surface and one up high.

I'm really curious the power requirements per unit and the rate of fire.

How easy would it be to overwhealm them just enough to get one through to take out the power source.

If you had asked me six months ago who had operational defense lasers, it would have been the Israelis. When it comes to defense weaponry, they have few, if any, equals.
