I think Hamas wants Israel to invade.
I’d also take the statements from Hezbollah at face value. Hezbollah has probably promised Hamas that they will attack when Israel does, opening up a second front.
But their idea of a porportional response and that punishment for "civilians" will be porportional to such things as:
- How many Hamas defected prior to the attacks?
- How many Hamas defected after the attacks citing not wanting to be affiliated with that level of barbarity?
- How may 'civilians' have come forward with information such as tunnel locations, commander locations, Hamas concentrations, especially hostage sightings?
If the answer is zero... the punishment they are and will continue to rain down on them, with it increasing in step-function fashion real soon, is proportional (inversely) to that.
And that is the response they should take. Want to cheer about and spit on Grandma? fine- here's some white phosphorus for you. Hiding 3 fighters? fine - you can eat them after 3 weeks of no food.
I'm calling for THAT porportional response. On the "peoples of Gaza, whomever they may be".
