I dont think people understand what actually happens in war. You dont go play rock,paper,scissors and losers just leaves.
It's like they don't remember Tokyo, Dresden, Hiroshima or any of the other myriad bombings. And that's not even going back a century. Civilians have always been in the mix as far as casualties go. That's why you don't imbed your army in with your civilians if you don't want them to die

I know Israel is going to go in hard and lots of Palestinian civilians are going to get killed in the process. I realize that’s just part of the deal and I won’t be losing any sleep either way.
But what you’re suggesting is that it’s wrong to state facts because some people will think Israel is taking it a bit far. If we want to discuss this we need to be able to stay in the realm of reality and facts.

While you may be correct, and I think you are... Hamas is Gaza.
And while everybody goes on and on about how Israel is a colonized artificial state the identity of Palestinian is a Turkic name created by the Ottomans to identify Semites living in the geographical region of Palestine. It's just as fake as Israel. And it was pretty much a slur; the Ottomans had no problem dumping Armenians who survived the death marches into what they considered Palestine. The British turned it into a true identify beyond the Turkic "from here" slur. In the 20th century.
At least Israel has a historic context. Palestinians have to create links to other groups such as the Phoenicians to get around being a manufactured identity beyond some formerly nomadic Turk deciding to call you that because that is where you live.
You are called a New Yorker because you live in New York... not because you have roots to the native tribes that once inhabited just because you live there now.
