Wouldn’t the 57 lives saved outweigh the 3000 absences of kids?

Unless the goal is to simply maximize kids.

I figured the seats would be to save real alive kids.

I'd blame daycare costs before car seats.

Having a kid in daycare certainly makes you question how many more you can afford.

My 3rd child will be here in less than 3 weeks.

Car seats were never remotely a factor in this multi year process.

Most people have their kids a few years apart. So if you follow this rule, you would have to space them out 4 years if you want to have 3 kids but only 2 car seats. Wasn’t even a thought in my head though when my wife and I were having children. We had a 3 year old, then twins, then 4 years later our 4th child. So we had a big arse suburban and a lot of car seats
