Anyone know how miramar beach is doing?
Lost power about two hours ago. Internet is still up because my cameras are working. It’s dark with no power but prior to losing power I couldn’t see any damage other than a small tree down. No debris or anything.
Neighbors who stayed said everything looks good. They were about to head to the beach/scenic 98 and check things out. Have not heard back.

I live at Santa Rosa beach / Miramar Beach line.
I was just at Sandestin marina checking on a boat, all boats are ok, water level 1.5 feet below dock level.
Miramar seems pretty clean, can’t believe nothing came behind the eye, but certainly not complaining.

Good news…appreciate the update. Hope the repairs at Whalestail are minimal as well.

As unorthodox as it sounds, the folks in the western eyewall took a punch.
Lots of damage here. Will be ugly when the sun comes up.

This is crazy man. Starting to think damage might be worse in this isolated area than those in the #Isaias’s eyewall. Finally got my hands on velocity & it’s clear as day. Sting jet ripped through far western Santa Rosa & northeast Escambia, & parts of SW AL. Biggest reported gust so far is Jay, FL (118mph), which is NW of Milton, FL.
I tried to go out & explore some in Pace, FL, and roads are impassable. Tree damage is bad. I knew this “sting jet” scenario was possible, but to see it come to fruition is wicked. These places were 20-30 miles west of the eyewall. Just insane stuff.

@lefrenz
Worst I have seen so far is Pace, and the stretch from Santa Rosa Beach to Seaside.

@TreyceJonesWX
Yeah, Pace is pretty bad. Only place I’ve been able to explore so far, so many impassable roads, had to go home.

Feels like the past hurricanes haven’t lived up to the hype. I had a feeling there was a lot of “weather guys” trying to spin this up since this was our first shot at something decent. I was right.
Most of these dickheads are just looking for clicks/views. Be cautious of who you follow and watch.
It was a strong 3, and they have to report it as such, obviously. But from day 1 of formation, it was thought it would go from a 2 to a 1 as landfall approached. Sonit seems that was correct. But when it grew to a 3, things changed a bit.
I do consulting for disaster response and base camp operations for the linemen and tree crews (first in) . Were originally gonna be posting our base in Milton, but for some reason it was swifted east and now we have a camp being done in Panama City...500 men.
I get that it was larger for a bit, and went more east than fist thought...but seems the camp is a mistake, geographical to the damage.
Im leaving in 2 hrs..cant f'ing sleep

Friend,
That was an incredibly interesting storm. We stayed at Uncle’s Portofino condominium on Pensacola Beach, where the tropical storm force winds began around 3:00 and provided a bit of entertainment. We cheered as the storm pulled eastward, just as Mother had predicted it would, well before the National Hurricane Center, because we thought that meant we would not face the storm’s brunt.
By 6:00, we thought the storm was over. The skies to the west were thinning and light began to beam down as it does at the end of an afternoon thunderstorm. Based on pictures of radar that Cousin sent us by text, as our internet was unusable, we had missed the western eye wall. Uncle suggested we might even have a miraculous sunset like the evening before. I considered going downstairs to walk along the beach and collect shells.
Things changed quickly at 6:30. Even though the sky was still light, very light actually when looking west, the winds suddenly began to howl. For the next half hour, we endured sustained winds of 80 MPH, with gusts above 100. There was a great number of lightning flashes for a short 15 minute period that I wondered if somehow that screenshot of the eye wall missing us was a fraud. The wind and lightning were ferocious, reminding us of our humble place on this planet.
Uncle’s condominium faces southward over the Gulf, but the terrible winds were coming from the northeast, and our windows were not exposed to their full force. Thanks be to God, we sustained no damage to the condominium. Several neighbors whose condominiums overlook the Sound were given a different lot. Their windows faced those northeastern winds directly and were blown out. One of these families is now sharing our space. We are glad to have them with us amd we hope the power returns so Mother might make all of us her Calliope chocolate chip cookies for breakfast.
By 8:00, the winds had become remarkably calm, punctuated every five or so minutes with squally gusts, but the violence of an hour earlier had subsided. Now the winds are coming from the west, probably at only 15 miles per hour, and there is a wonderful calm on the beach.
In a couple of hours, I intend to awaken everyone to see whether they would care to join me on a shell expedition. First crack after a storm rewards the early riser with a panoply of shells to make any conchologist jealous. If any of you are on the beach you are welcome to join me, or I hope, us.
We have much for which to give thanks. The condominium is undamaged, we have been sheltered through another tempest, and we have room for a family of refugees. Let us all give thanks to the Lord. If the morning brings a beach full of shells, I shall consider that an additional blessing, grace heaped upon grace.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

Man I hope I keep my shed. That thing was pure hell to put together. Cant believe we went from record breaking hurricane drought to getting a direct uppercut by the east side of the eye. Been staying hopeful and chill but it just seems to be aiming more perfectly at us and intensifying.
Update: I did not keep my shed.
