This.
You obviously crave validation in several forms.

A talented kid could be hitting chert rocks with a sawmill slab bat and a recruiter would find him. But by all means...keep spending money.

My kid played D1 ball actually in the SEC but high probability your kid won't. You should keep spending though. It's totally worth it.

At 14 he should be hitting .600 or he ain't special.

Everyone will laugh but 90% of D1 baseball players this is what it takes.
Even those notice early through HS will get dropped if they don’t play high level summer ball.
Those that criticize LSU or their baseball or softball team of choice don’t realize that those kids spent 3-4 summers traveling all summer after high school ball chasing the best competition to find their dream. At that point it’s not a parents dream anymore.
It’s true though.

Hitting .320 in 14U baseball is laughable. Kid won’t sniff community college

$15k? Rookie numbers. You should get a daughter that does competitive dance.

Take a look at these kids. High school ball ends and these kids travel to Georgia from all over the country. Scouts galore. Top 50 teams from all age groups. SEC commits litter the top rosters.

And your wife let’s talk about her

Come on man. This is an obvious troll.

I've often wondered if my kid was that much into baseball if I would do travel ball. Used to be 100% against it, Then I think back to when I played. Man, I wanted to play ball year round, but it wasn't offered. I loved baseball, loved playing and loved the game. So if your kid has that much passion for the game, how can you say no to that especially knowing what it feels like to have that same passion and have the means.
It's tough to tell the kid no, when you see how much joy comes out of them playing.

If you’re dropping money only with the expectation that he will get to D1 then I would say it’s not worth it. If you and your kid really enjoy it just for the journey itself then it’s worth it
IDK it’s expensive but seeing my kid happy and coaches say he has D1 potential makes it worth it.
What did yall do to get noticed back in the day?

If the family gets enjoyment from it, then it's not a waste. If not, it certainly isn't the only way to develop baseball skills.

If your kid is good, loves the game, and is committed to improving, then it is probably worth a shot.
If he is good, but does not love the game, or has issues committing day in day out, you may want to reconsider.
If he is average or less, don't do it.
Just don't be that Dad who is living life vicariously though his son's potential. Like another poster said, is it his dream or yours?

Lottery ticket hope isn’t actually hope.

You going to Omaha to get him a Combat Shadowcast? Only 300 available and only at the CWS. If not, you’re just playing games and yall aren’t serious.

He won't get major D-1 looks unless your spending $15K a season and playing at least 3 seasons a year. At 14 84 is kind of slow, he better start learning to throw a lot of the breaking stuff and use those pitches primarily. Don't worry about his arm, Tommy John surgeries have advanced a long way.
If you really love your son you'll invest in him.
