technically, yes
but it is biodegradable
just look both ways before you toss into bushes etc, not on street

It's definitely trashy.

Of course, if everyone did it then that wouldn't be good.
Exactly. I look at it from a water quality perspective. A few banana peels aren't going to do anything, but if a bunch of people throw out a bunch of organic waste, then we suddenly have nutrient-rich runoff entering our water bodies, which is generally not a good thing. Eutrophication and all that jazz.

Is tossing a banana peel littering?
Into grass/bushes?
Or apple cores, similar stuff?
Congrats, your #50 only because there's no #51!

What about toothpicks? Its the only thing I "litter" and I just throw it into grass. I figure its just a really really tiny stick.
Posted on 2/24/16 at 8:35 am to TexasTiger1185
Depends, did you take off the sticker?

No really but look at it this way
One banana peel is not a big thing. If there were 50 of them in the same place, it would be considered garbage more than likely.
Thus, it actually is littering in that way
So if a Banana tree drops 50 bananas underneath it should a police officer issue a ticket to the tree?

I like to take a walk in the park at lunch and eat an apple. I always toss the core near the base of a tree. It might be littering, but it either decomposes quickly or gets eaten so I don't feel bad about it. I'm not going to do that in your yard though.

Just get good distance. Food next to the road attracts rodents which attracts hawks and leads to hawks getting hit by cars.

Would you post your address, I have roughly 50 banana peels I need to discard. I am guessing your lawn is a safespace for decomposing waste.

YES!
It takes 3-4 weeks for a banana peel to decompose.

This may have already been mentioned, but items like banana peels entice critters to travel close to roadways, which isn't good for them or us.

I got pulled over in high school for throwing a piece of sausage in the bushes as I was pulling out of McDonald's.
Cop said it was a $500 littering fine.
I pointed to the sausage and birds were already eating it
He let me go with a "warning"...

You can put them in my compost and I'll put it on my lawn in a few months.

I have been told that it isn't,but it will get you pulled over if a cop sees you do it.
