I've never had to suck off the government teet, for that I'm grateful. That doesn't change the fact that I'm continuously pissed that I have to give them my hard earned milk every freaking quarter and then add a little cream at year-end.

In a perfect world (which we will never live in) you could decide where you wanted your taxes allocated instead of the state and feds deciding for you.

I understand what you're saying, but for me personally, I wish I was getting some of that interest free money I lent to the government back next week. Instead, I'll be sending them even more for them to piss away.

I had to write an $11,000 plus check to an insurance company once. It was paying back disability insurance I got though my job until I was eligible for real disability. I could have gone without receiving it, and probably should have. I had just paid over $7000 in hospital bills during that same year, and had paid taxes from the previous year.

I wasn't broke, but it was a low point for cash on hand, since my 20's.

I'm in a SINKhole and get 32% of my earnings taken out. 22% Federal. 10% state.

Honestly, while almost a 3rd of my earned income is (frustatingly) taken annually, I probably wouldn't complain (as much) if it were reversed and MY state got more of MY money for services they provide for ME, while the Feds got a small vital amount for defense, interstate infrastructure, etc for all of us nationally.

Still, Thomas Jefferson wrote "There shall be no direct tax upon the people." No personal income tax. Yet big government later on got the rules changed and now, not only do I pay the Feds, but I pay more to the Feds than I do my own state.

It amazes me why posters here consistently defend the big government theft of their earnings.

Kids don't really help all that much with taxes. Don't remember the exact figures, but it's much closer to $1,000 per year (each) than $10,000 per. Should honestly be much higher, IMO.
