So I am currently in high school, I really dislike school and cannot see myself going to college (and its really expensive too), so I think that trade school would probably be the best bet for me. To people who went, is there anything that I should probably know beforehand?

I applaud you for having enough self-awareness to know you don't want to go to college and instead learn a trade. That, my friend, is a brilliant decision on your part. The only general advice I will give is to pay attention and work hard. You could be making six figures before you know it.

I didn’t go, but I’d recommend plumbing if you’re in Louisiana. That industry seems to be protected from cheap out of state labor.

Congrats on making 100k per year with minimum debt coming out of school when your peers are slanging drinks at Starbucks with 300k in student loans. Save your money and don’t be hood rich with an f250 before you buy a house

Do everything you can to find a mentor.

In my experience, there are a good number of tradesman/entrepreneurs that shift into the people molding business once they find success.

Eventually you’ll have the tools to create something yourself if you so wish.

Go learn to be an aircraft mechanic. The shortage is huge, starting pay is great, especially if you can get on with an airline. You won't have to wait long for a job offer. Being mechanically inclined is a plus.

I was thinking about being either a plumber or electrician. I live in a more rural area and I don't wanna go to far in all honesty, being an aircraft mechanic would mean that I would most likely have a long drive to work or I'd have to move.

Automation/Industrial Electronics is a good trade. I think in the next 10 years the demand is going to skyrocket even more as the older guys retire.

The thing about being an HVAC guy is you’re always leaving just when the indoor temperature gets nice.

OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN. Dont let these others fool you. Spend 2 years doing this, find out what plants have internships at whatever school you're interested in and go that route. Always stay humble and remember you dont know shite. Easiest 150k/year there is out there.

I know I probably shouldn't drop out and atleast get my diploma. Whenever I do try in school I do really good, im in honors classes, and I know computer programming pretty well, I'm good at it and I like it but I think of it more as a hobby, already struggling enough to not fail out of boredom. Cant do school honestly its the worst.

I overheard a baw tell another baw at the boat ramp this weekend that if his son became a diesel mechanic he could write his own ticket.

That’s all I got.
