Not until people sack up and treat the root cause of the problems. But sadly it won't happen because the majority are afraid of being labeled an "ist" by the vocal minority's.

All I will say is that my wife and I had a trip planned to New Orleans about 2 months ago that we cancelled.
And we aren't pussies.

Katrina was the courtesy flush. NOLA blew the opportunity.

Nola won't improve as long as it remains 70% black

Similar problems in Jackson, Baton Rouge, Montgomery, Etc. High crime and bad schools mean families don't want to live there.

It probably should have been abandoned after Katrina...let nature take it back.

I don't think there is much hope for New Orleans in in my lifetime.
I'm over it. I accept that I will never see it improve.

City is so dysfunctional it's pathetic. Driving businesses and decent citizens away in hordes. Corrupt politicians and police force for decades. The infrastructure is a joke. Does the city even have a chance to get better or should we just forget about it? What kind of miracle would it take for NO to be a somewhat functional city?
We talking about 1977 New Orleans or 2017 ?

In the 16 minutes between Lester Earls and Wiz's posts, New Orleans improved by 10%.
Maybe there is hope.

That's not a new problem. When have NOLA public schools been good in last 60 years?

I was thinking out West somewhere or stay closer to home, maybe try Tampa.
