There is a Netflix documentary called Dark Tourist and he went to the "stans". He was there the opening of the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. I could be wrong, but I think he said it cost a couple of billion dollars. It was truly a bat shite crazy land.

They have some beautiful mountains there. Be a great place to hike. Or at least on google maps.

And they would very frequently be right. I know a woman from Kazakhstan who looks very Chinese and that's par for the course for her home city. Kazakhstan was part of the Mongol empire for a very long time.
