The fax machine is a secured transmission of data. A hacker can't get to your fax machine. But they can and will get to your email. We use it for client information. Most attorneys that I know use it for confidential client information
This is an odd one now because many, many businesses that fax do so over a cable or fiber modem that digitizes and multiplexes all the data at the building and transmits it to the outside world over glass or coax. Once it leaves the building and enters the service provider's network, it is technically vulnerable to being comprimised from remote action.
The number of events where two fax machines are sending and recieving data over 100% analog POTS lines between source and destination must be very, very few. In this case, hacking involves physical intrusion and can't be done remotely.

Look, paw-paw, it isn't. Keep sending your faxes, that's fine, but you're wrong here.

No it’s not. I guarantee I can send an email with attachments faster
It depends on if the document was already digital or if you have to scan it in to send it.

Your an idiot if you think everyone in the typical corporate setting can sit at home and be just as productive and engaged in their team and relationships with co workers.
I’ve been working from home since last year and my productivity is far better than then k drove into an office every day because I don’t have a steady stream of people coming to my office to bother me.

A long unused (at least 5+ years) fired up in the office a couple of weeks ago. We were all stunned and half frightened. About a dozen people huddled around to see what was coming through.
Of all things, it was a lunch order. Clearly a wrong number, but who in the hell sends in a lunch order via fax these days? It was a semi mind-blowing look into the past.

Thrift Savings Plan (Govt Retirement Plan) Fax or US Mail were the only options to submit docs. It took about 8 months to get the relatives money out of the retirement plan.
What do you expect? You’re dealing with a bunch of slimy bureaucrats. Their 30 years behind normal society.

They have to fax closing documents to some banks because the banks insist they be sent in that manner. No idea why.
It’s secure. Email can be hacked

I’ve found lots of business processes exist simply because “that’s the way we’ve always done it” - Even if said way is objectively bad.

Fax is older than the telephone.
The worldwide fax services market was valued at $2.92 billion in 2021 and is projected to reach $5.47 billion by 2027, with a CAGR of 11.03%. Emerging technologies such as 5G, the Internet of Things, and cloud computing will contribute to the growth of the faxing market.
