I saw a show where a global criminal enterprise used an elaborate system of faxes for off the grid analog comms at a nondescript office they were operating. So there’s that for the crime lords among TD

Fax is still used regularly in medical offices to send orders

Fax is still the quickest, easiest way to send documents. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it? Lots of medical offices and insurance companies still use it.

Question..Why when I send a fax on colored paper, does the recipient always say they receive it on white paper?

I wouldn't have a landline number if not faxes. it would save me a lot of money

I imagine security was a major reason for a lot of these companies to continue with faxes. But now it is probably still written into a lot of internal policies and/or regulations and no one wants to take the time to change them. So they just make you send a fax.

I am not sure of the current state of laws when it comes to legally binding signatures, but years ago a fax was considered a legally binding signature and email was not. Either the law has not been changed, not communicated out well enough if it has, or people just trust fax more than email in terms of security.
Many medical facilities and attorneys absolutely insist on still using fax.

They're both electronic signatures and both acceptable.

Our email got hacked one time. We send confidential documents by fax now.

It's "safer" than email if sending confidential information.

Is there a legit reason to be still using Fax machine
Yes. Boomers use it as a tool to piss everyone else off.
Can't tell you how many times I've had a customer call in to check status of a purchase order they "sent" 4 months ago.
When I advise them that we have not received their purchase order, I'm told, "Well I faxed it a few months ago".
Not one follow up, not one email letting anyone know it was faxed, nothing. Most fax machines aren't even active or it's shared for an entire floor via the printer/copier.
Now they are mad, demanding discounts, waived expediting charges, etc... all because they refuse to send a simple email.

If you're doing business with state or local government, they still use them nearly exclusively for signed documents. They're secure and transmissions are protected by federal law--and all that implies.
Hospitals and doctors offices use them as a wrapper around HIPPA protections.
Plenty of legitimate reasons.

We have a fax number but everything comes over via email.

No it’s not. I guarantee I can send an email with attachments faster.
