Any parent that forces their kid to throw up is insane no matter what sport. High school wrestling has hydration test that TRY to keep kids from cutting too much weight. It still happens, and that is what gave the sport a bad name.

Every college coach I've ever heard speak on the subject, has said that kids need to play multiple sports when they are young, and never spend too much time on any one sport.
I found it a bit different for my son...being as competitive as possible gives you a gear that others just don’t understand. Being one of the best soccer players in the region, by U13, definitely set him up better than playing flag football would have when he ultimately started football. I know it’s anecdotal, but I think learning one sport really well sets you up to learns at a high level better than learning multiple just OK.

Because too many parents these days had shitty childhoods and wish to relive their childhood through their kids. Therefore, they can't let their kids just be kids.

thats what you dont get. Had nothing to do with learning the sport. Has to do with movement patterns and overuse.
You can negate this by focusing on physical rather than skill development somewhat, but in general the more sports you play, the better athletic movement you have.
But a disclaimer here is you still need to have an off season. Every kid should have a minimum 8-12 week off season where the focus is strictly physical development and withing the antagonist to the muscles used in the sport.

Indoor facility, in memphis. Viewing facility is elevated about 15 feet and covered by glass. Two parents got in a fight and crashed through the glass, onto the court their kids were playing on

As an ump, I sent all parents away from the field once. Emptied the stands.
It was that or call the game.
Parents were pathetic.

I let my kids play whatever they want. My only rule is if you start the season you will finish it. After that you don't ever have to play again unless you want to.

No fricking way. It's 10x's worse b/c they all come from wrestling backgrounds
BJJ instructor for my son will make the parents go outside if they act a fool, he tells them they paying him to coach and to stop
The bjj gym my kids are in is by far the most chill place I’ve been. Soccer, basketball, hell even t-ball had more obnoxious parents than the gym. I think a good chunk of the parents also train so watching little Braxton get armbared isn’t a big deal.
ETA: honestly, now that I think about it, not a lot of “braxtons” at the gym lol. More like Jason’s and mikes. Different kind of kid at the gym compared to the ball field. Parents too

Athletic movement is a bit different than vision, and vision seems to be what separates kids. The accuracy to get the ball, soccer or football, to a point in space is one thing, but you’ll never be able to fine tune that until you see where that ball exactly needs to be to beat the defender. The baseball players probably have a better arm than my son, but damn they have a ton to catch up with on passing lanes and the ability to create them with a bit of movement.
Kicking the football is really what my son loves though, so he always practiced that as his side sport. Still the only thing he does on his own.
He was asked yesterday to move from the Jr High track team to varsity to run the 400...so I think he may be going out to the field to practice more than just kicking here soon.
He’s always been the center mid in soccer, so even though he was playing one sport all year it’s always been accuracy and movement training. This year he’ll stop playing year around...to the dismay of his coaches.

as a parent that should be what you are striving for and what you are essentially paying for.
and i know this will be downvoted, all the OT poors and non competitive shitheads can frick off.
LOL. I bet you try on that ole letterman from time to time and post on FB quite often about how awesome HS was.... am I far off?
Closing note:
Your kid is great! He should play travel ball. Now, here's a schedule of fees. LOL. It's like "Who's Who Among..."

Why are you so angry because I called you out on your bullshite?
Yea i try on my lettermans jacket....you got me. Quit being a dumbass. I readily admit I sucked and I do not live through my kids achiecements, anything but. My oldest is the worst on his team and my middle is not the best on his either. I dont have dad eyes and have very good self perception.
I encourage my kids to play because they like it. They enjoy it and it teaches them a shite about life, mainly how to compete, what success and failure feels like etc.
You called me out saying I was wasting money, I said its not wasting if you can afford it. Sorry that offends you. My kids arent going to tech school and I can readily afford travel ball, private lessons and private school all at the same time. Sorry you cant.
and yea how many meathead engineers do you know? kindly frick off sir.

my kid is good, not great. He outworks every other kid and isnt the most talented.
We play travel ball because rec ball in louisiana is a shite show and not competitive and full of trashy arse parents who only show up when they feel like it. The same parents that critize from the stands but have never played in their life. Same parents that run when asking for volunteers. We play travel ball because both of my kids asked to play it to challenge them.
Sorry I got tired of shitty poor parents and took my kid to a better environment. Sorry you cant.
Why does it bother you what other people spend their money on? why does it bother you some kids want a more competitive environment?

and zero fricks are given. Honestly i come off as an arrogant douche because most of the OT is uneducated on things like this.
I was the biggest proponenet of rec ball you ever met until a year ago. When you give everything you can to something and you get shite on and see it failing because of shitty parents.....well you tend to become jaded.
My kids are nothing special and I sure as hell wasnt. We dont play travel ball because of that. Its annoying how the OT loves to shite on travel ball, especially the really older crowd that had kids that played rec or the people who dont have kids. Both groups are fricking clueless about the state of youth sports today.
The ot loves to shite on parents spending money on things. Doesnt matter what it is. The ot glorifies shitty parenting too. Just like post in this thread talking about droppign your kid at practice and heading to the bar. Yea....thats brilliant, go have 3 or 4 beers and then go get your kid. Typical Louisiana BS though, glorifying drinking and driving.
i come off as a douche because i call people out on their bullshite.
