Whenever I order food at McDonald's or Taco Bell without getting a drink, they usually ask, "Sure you don't want a drink with that???"
Then I go home and pull out a cold soft drink from the 12-pack I have in my fridge.

Ruth's Chris mashed potatoes, at $10 per order, have to be damned close.

A 2.79 fountain drink costs maybe 3 cents to make. It's a profit game.

Can you break that down? How much is electricity for ice, water costs, syrup, labor, etc.? Which part of that 3 cents goes to each? How much of the 3 cents goes to the manager that manages the labor? Rent/mortgage?

Threads like this are why we have babe threads. This thread really makes the OT-L suck.

Name of the game. I have no problem with them maximizing profits. If a place charges more than I am willing to pay for a soft drink, I just don't order a soft drink and more often just don't eat there period.

that's why certain places know what's up, like circle K with 79 cent drinks and icees and McD with $1 drinks any size. Meanwhile avoid the $3 2 liters at little caesars

Reusable cup they will wash, a couple pennies worth of soft drink syrup to refill it once. Yeah I’m mad because I just bought $24 worth of Sprites for a table of 12 year olds.

And it probably wasn’t Sprite-a Cocal Cola product. A lot of places use the cheap guns and CO units and buy cheap syrup knockoffs. If you saw the nastiness of the guns and lines you would never order fountain drinks.

Sure they can knock the drinks down to something more reasonable but then the price of the food will go up

So Memorial Say weekend is the time when people on the OT complain about the price of burgers at Five Guys and the price of soft drinks at restaurants?

If you can’t really afford to go out to eat. Don’t do it.

If $1 here or there creates the need to expose your cheapness/lack of money, better to just STFU and go eat lunch at Costco or Sams. The hot dogs and pizza are not bad

Bottled water for $1-$2.

A case of 24 waters costs about $5 and thats for an expensive one like Dasani or Aquafina. Means each water costs about 20 cents

There’s a very common lack of understanding amongst most of the general public on how much it costs to run/own a restaurant. It’s not cheap and for the most part owners aren’t trying to fleece customers. You won’t be in business long if that’s the case.

How many napkins did the kids use or other items that you aren’t directly charged for? I also like my employees to have insurance and a 401k. Sorry for finding that fine line where customers will still buy a product and I can also turn a profit while treating my employees well.
