What a wonderful place

Is there a bigger ripoff in the food industry than $2.79 for a soft drink?
Idiots who pay that for a black Venti Coffee at Starfricks

What’s sucks is the restaurants that bring out your drinks (sodas) in a can or bottle with a glass of ice. Then charge you $2.59 or so for each “refill” they bring out.

There’s a very common lack of understanding amongst most of the general public on how much it costs to run/own a restaurant. It’s not cheap and for the most part owners aren’t trying to fleece customers. You won’t be in business long if that’s the case.
How many napkins did the kids use or other items that you aren’t directly charged for? I also like my employees to have insurance and a 401k. Sorry for finding that fine line where customers will still buy a product and I can also turn a profit while treating my employees well.
This x1000
And the basic point remains, if you don't like the price of the drink or the burger, then don't order the drink (you can get served water at no charge) or the burger (I presume something else on the menu has value or you wouldn't be eating out).

Yeah, it’s a high profit margin item but you make profit off of everything in a restaurant...if not, you won’t be in business long
Wrong.

Restaurants make money off drinks and side items. The labor plus cost of goods, you aren't making it if you are trying to make it off food.
People think raising wages is the answer. It's not, that store is paying for the price it cost to make and ship item to store. It will be transferred to the consumer.
I don't think most people know what goes into the every day products they buy and what it takes to get it into their hands

This also needs to be stated. Water isn't free.
More and more people eat out, yet I see constant bitching about the price of eating out.
Cost of goods has gone up. If you have an issue, make food at home.

I drink plain water at home and everywhere.
Even with $3 drinks, restaurants still have a though time making profits due to high overhead. A lot of restaurants in BR fail.

Why me and my wife rarely go out to eat.Too expensive and the food is not healthy and ,portions too big. We’re not poor, not going to restaraunts except special occasions is one of the reasons we’re well off.

I work with a guy that eats every meal in a restaurant, or take out. He makes OK money. He never has any money and keeps his credit card maxed.
I have offered to help him get it together but he just blows it off. $15 for lunch every day and $20-25 at night adds up quickly.

People would be shocked if they had to lau the true cost if an entree. That dollar ranch or three dollar drink that is marked up is helping you out. We mark up a low cost, heavily bought item and only charge you 10 bucks for the meal. The coste of operating a restaurant are outstanding.

Recently got back from San Francisco. My son ordered a diet coke. $5.50. Unreal!

Smoothies are the biggest rip off to me. Some fruit, ice, yogurt, and milk.... 9 bucks if you get the largest size.

Tell those frickers they get water.
I noticed this long ago and unless I’m drinking booze at dinner it’s straight up water.

This. It's funny to hear people say they order water because of the cost of soft drinks. I mean are you that fricking tight that that's what you worry about when you go out to eat, a couple of dollars? Just stay your broke arse at home
