Is the whole hacker / IT security / upgrade loop just a system to keep people employed?

I don’t see how all these ‘upgrades’ to my desktop at work have radically improved my efficiency. They certainly keep a bunch of people drawing paychecks though.

They write code

Hacker figures out that code

IT edits code so hacker cannot get into it

Repeat

Not that complicated. You make some stupid thread.

Hackers are indeed the primary driving force behind a lot of downtime. I'm not sure what solutions you would suggest other than patching known issues.

Whether it is hacking or phishing, there are a number of bad actors who have turned malicious activity into a billion dollar industry.

ITSEC is a crucial element to our economy. Just look at Target, Sony and Equifax as examples of what can happen if you don't take ITSEC seriously.

Pretty much all of us. If your network is hacked and it haults your company’s production, how efficient would you be then?

getting a company to realize that their weakest link is the person in front of the fricking keyboard, keeps my paychecks coming

IT security is there to prevent your network from being hacked so that you can keep working.

it's not that complicated.

It is a self supporting, never ending loop.

Who is to say some of these hackers aren’t part of security organizations?

It's more likely for a person to willingly give away their information than it is for it to be "stolen". Social engineering, people.

So your loop is based on this assumption?

Yeah, so? Most of you are assuming they aren’t.

You have nine down votes because there are a bunch of IT people here just just play in the internet all day

They are. It's white collar hacking. A company employs someone to try to hack the system to identify weak spots. Your alternative would be to just wait until you are hacked and then try to fix it because you're an idiot and think there's some big conspiracy?

Get back to the fry line dumbass.
