What?
There are two ways a patch is found/needed.

A good hacker finds it. Or a bad hacker finds it.

There are "bug bounties" out there for people who find issues and report them.

There are also real hacks where people obtain sensitive information to sell to others.

It is an industry that has carved out a never ending niche for itself because it can always claim security threats and other upgrades are needed. From now on and I’m not sure how that changes barring some type of AI event.

I don’t see how all these ‘upgrades’ to my desktop at work have radically improved my efficiency. They certainly keep a bunch of people drawing paychecks though.

You're probably one of the reasons why IT security needs to exist because you're likely one of the people that will click on something you're not supposed to click on and infect the whole damn network.

That's everything.

Some industries are reactive, mostly on the service side. (Plumbers, mechanics) Some industries are proactive/preventative. (insurance) Some are both (IT, healthcare, lawyers).

I don't understand your issue.

Sweet delicious grammar irony.

Serious question. Is it "grammar irony" or grammatical irony?

Nah, I’m not ignorant to network security and am familiar with concepts presented here.

But look how technolgy is pushed by an industry to become embedded in our lives and then that same industry makes itself even more necessary because it must protect us from dangers associated with faults in that tech.

I just think it is interesting.

pretty much nailed it..We see smaller companies that want to just accept the risk, wipe their shite and move on, and we companies that pay more for me to be proactive than the previously mentioned places are worth..We've seen a HUGE uptick in healthcare related cybersecurity as they seem to be the new, easy targets

I love people who have this nonchalant attitude about IT.......

if you really believe the things IT does to keep your work day going doesn't really improve your "efficiency", then you are clearly not that smart.

He is posting on tigerdroppings during working hours. I doubt he's efficient anyway. Unless he's posting in between mopping the bathrooms and cleaning the toilets.

So do you hate auto mechanics too? They've been doing it for almost a century.

I'm not even sure what you're trying to say now. People are going to try to hack shite, that's not going to stop. Therefor, you're always going to need IT people. You're trying to wind some sort of huge conspiracy I think, but I'm not sure.

they aren't alone.... Marketing is the same way. Spending money just to spend money. "Oh we don't have anything to do, let's spend money and rebrand."

This. We ran a huge security training program through our company over the last few months. And the amount of calls for help on the simplest questions really make me want to bang my head on the desk. And the shite people still to this day open in their email......In a way its frustrating, but then again, if they were as smart as me, I wouldn't have a job.

bc security threats evolve, and with it, detection and prevention have to evolve with it.

I don't think you know what "compared" means. Nor did you comprehend what I said in context of his post. IT is a field of work that can be proactive or reactive. That's all.

Your post means literally nothing to what I said.

based on the invoices we send out, one of these three is clearly smarter than the others
