Wow. How did you handle it? What age? Did he use the word demon?

He was in his late teens.

He said it scared him but quickly reassured himself that it wasn’t real and he knew what was happening as he had heard about SP before.

I’ve had it happen to me but I saw myself floating over my body. I was watching myself from above and could feel the weightless feeling of floating.

I think it's more likely the brain allowing consciousness to mistakenly interact with the subconscious during a REM cycle than crossing over into other dimensions....but to each their own.

Wow this is crazy. A guy in my dorm in college said the previous night he woke up and heard some rattling and he couldn’t move. He tried to call out but could hardly speak and he said there was a shadowy demon figure.

I figured he was just half dreaming about the demon part, but the fact several of y’all have claimed to see the same thing is spooky.

Sleep Disorders of any kind are to be taken very seriously. If you're experiencing anything like this see your doctor immediately. Untreated Sleep Apnea dang near killed me.

Prior to the diagnosis and treatment for the condition I recall one night (it felt like a bad dream) hovering over my body and repeating, "Breath #####.....take a deep breath #####....breath NOW!". I was in a sort of sleep paralysis and my head was hurting terrible. I realized my body had literally stopped breathing. After recovery from the incident and as I sat on the side of my bed I recall thinking, "Dang I just jump started my body...Thank you God". Scary as heck.

I got my arse to a doctor PDQ!

Every time I see somebody talk about sleep paralysis they always claim they saw a dark shadow person walking towards them and they couldn’t move.

I’ve had it a few times and it’s this.

For me it’s more like I can move but don’t, hard to explain. It’s as if my mind is like “okay we should get up now” but then the message gets forgotten and I sit there frozen.
The last few times I THINK I knew I was safe.

Now that you brought this up I feel like it’s going to happen again

I was a bit alarmed when I found out I'm not the only person to have seen Hat Man.

I've had it where there was something or someone in the room trying to hurt/kill me so I wouldn't move. It was so bad that when I finally do wake up I'm afraid to move. It never happened when I was sleeping with someone, only when alone.

I don't know how sleep paralysis is mysterical or scary to an adult.

I've had it at least 20 times as an adult and it's just like a really annoying dream that you know you're in.

Feels like you have to muster up every bit of energy to flip over and wake up out of it.

As a child yes it was scary, but when you know what it is... then it's not.

yeah I agree, but I still don't like it at all. It can be quite unsettling. It's an unpleasant experience ever though I know whats going on.

I used to get them fairly often and always when I was tired/groggy and when sleeping on my back. The first time I experienced it I thought someone snuck into my room and injected me with a syringe that paralyzed me.

Once you get used to them they just become an annoyance. Sometimes you can kinda have a unique out of body experience when you come to and realize what’s going on during the paralysis.
