There arent better places to supply your business?

As everyone else says, the savings on gasoline alone are worth the cost of the membership, as long as their fueling station is configured so that it moves pretty quickly (some are not).
I pretty much agree with everything mentioned in this thread so far. Sam’s is one of the nicer shopping experiences in my town….limited access keeps the rif-raf out!

I’m a Costco guy but mainly because it’s closer and easier to get to than the Sam’s in my city. For gas and non-perishables (with the Kirkland brand) you will save tons of money.
I can’t speak for every location but for the New Orleans Costco, I go on a weeknight 30 to 45 minutes before it closes. There’s no lines at the gas station and you can get in and out very quickly.

Costco hasn't implemented their version of scanNgo because they've shown that from in to out the door, it doesn't save their shoppers time.
They are rolling it out now.

Are the retards shopping at Costgo different than the retards that shop at Sam's? If sams can figure it out, the smart people at Costco should have done it years ago
Ive had scan and go at sams club in gport for 4 years

Same. We live 5 minutes away from Costco. We mostly use it for non-perishables like garbage bags, olive oil, paper towels etc. It's mostly just me and my wife these days, so we don't buy much actual food in bulk, maybe some frozen stuff occasionally.

You do have to look at price comparisons between Sam's Club and Walmart because there are some products that are actually more at Sam's and they are at Walmart.
Meat(Sausage)and bulk candy the only products I’ve found to be cheaper at Walmart… you got anything else ???

Sam’s here is okay. But the bakery on this one is horrible.

Because they can't afford a membership? Sam's Club accepts SNAP and EBT.

I have both, Costco and Sam’s. Both card are given to me, I don’t pay anything.
The Sam’s, my family has a large construction company, I’m on their card.
The Costco, another friend put me in with their company.
Costco is 10 mins from my house, they are building a new Sam’s about 3 mins from my house. Both have gas pumps.

No one here has mentioned it yet so I'll add the car batteries from Sams are about the best bang for your buck that you're going to get as far as warranty vs price.

I don't think the previous poster answered this question. At Sam's, if you have the APP, you can register your CC. As you go through the store you can scan your items, when you are done, you hit check out and walk through the "metal detector" at the exit and 9.5/10 the person standing at the door says you are good to go. As other's have said, it is a game changer.
I have gotten out of my truck, walked to and through the store and back to my truck for a rotisserie chicken countless times continuously walking.
Is this location dependent?
I had a free membership a few years ago for a year and wrote them off after the first visit because the post checkout check was not just a simple list and item visual: it was a go through every item and confirm and the line was absurd. It took 15 minutes to get out.
This SAMs is not in a prime location though, but it is the only one nearby. Maybe they have done away with this extensive check everywhere now?

Laundry detergent was the one that sticks out the last time i ran the numbers.
Havent been in a bit as my dad has been down so stocked up before his surgery.

$5 rotisserie chickens
Right now the gas is almost 30¢ a gallon cheaper than the next closest station.
I’ve also bought tires there with tire warranty package. So many awesome deals.

How’s their organic selection compared to Costco?
Posted on 5/25/26 at 1:42 pm to BowDownToLSU
Ok. I didn't realize Sam's was actually competitive with other potential sources. Thought it was just hype for the individual consumer.

Might be.
Gulfport since ive been here is never that bad. And, before the switch to the current system) they would just randomly scan items, not all of them.
We are in a Costco desert though. 2 hours to Mobile or take a 50/50 shot at getting shot in NO East. Covington one is still 2 hours as well.
Used to have a Costco and Sam's in Anchorage when I was up there. Then they closed the Sam's down maybe 3 years into being up there.
