How was it about to be finalized without testing his piss in the first place?
He said he could pass piss test, with notice easily.

I didnt know he smoked pot, and i had been working with him for 6 years.

Ask the LSU football players?

I don’t care what the DOT mandates. I made a generalized post concerning my opinion.

You don't see how this matters to many employers?

He probably wouldn’t have it or at least get it suspended after your company reported the failed test.
Would be fine and x amount of days suspended. I was kind of shocked how low the amount of days the DL would be suspended.

No amount of government programs will ever help these kinds of people achieve more. They are content to their less than mediocre life. Great example here, chance to drastically improve his life and chooses the $100 of weed a week

that isn't how DOT testing for marijuana is done. what part are you missing that the OP's company is following the law and not a company policy?
The law is stupid. Being hungover the next morning is magnitudes more disruptive to something like driving than getting stoned at 8pm.

you said you don't "see the need".
the need is:
1) The law
2) The financial liability of having a CDL'd employee get into an accident while driving and failing the subsequent DOT required drug test.

if you are hungover and get popped for a random you will most likely fail and be terminated. The DOT allowance is less than .02% bac.

Yep, but as long as it’s illegal at the federal level nothing will change. And none of our previous leaders have had the balls to do anything about it.
ETA and what rebel said. The threshold for dot BAC is basically nothing.

At the worst, he could of talked to them about it.
At one job many years ago, the company would always pick same people to do the random DOT drug checks. They knew the others would fail, and they were desperate to keep them.

I've heard of people passing up a union job making $30 an hour starting pay, because they were afraid they'd miss out on a week or two in hunting season.
People have their priorities. Respect that he has his.

Again, I made a post concerning a subjective opinion, not an argument of legality, government mandates, or a private business’s policy. My opinion, again, is I don’t care what an employee does on their own time, so long as they’re performing their job duties and not under the influence of anything during a work day.
You can get hammered off of alcohol the night before a work day and no one bats an eye, but by god if you get tested and they find trace amounts of weed in your system you’re fired.
And while I’m not an attorney, I would imagine the liability would be similar concerning an employee being drunk on the job vs high on any other substance.

There’s a difference between something that creates a compulsive need to use it versus something that is useful to you to the point that you want to use it to make life easier. I’m not addicted to my toaster, but I use it to make breakfast most mornings

It's not always about money.
More Americans need to learn that.

Pot is as addictive as anything else, no matter what people say. That does not mean it should be illegal though.
Exactly. No reason at all for it to be illegal. You can’t OD on weed

You potheads smell like skunk piss. I'm all for your rights but fricking bathe. Or maybe wake and bake is not the best option before breakfast. You're a fricking idiot for driving while blasted.

It's 2021, your company STILL does random tests for weed, and he's the bad guy?
Posted on 8/22/21 at 7:19 pm to stlslick
Some people are near the threshold of reduction in state benefits, and a raise will not cover the loss of the welfare.
So they decline the raise and stay put.
Incentives matter. It's not always weed.
