Is playing your kid up an age bracket in travel ball the ultimate badge of honor

Be a star in his normal age bracket, or play up and just be a solid contributor. Which one is better for development?

That is funny shite. I told my girlfriend two weekends ago at a my daughter's softball tournament to notice I was the only dad there who wasn't a coach(two).

I just felt embarrassed for a few dads I know as they have said almost the exact same thing. I never even paid much attention until you pointed it out. I will say this. I'm not going to give some of these guys a hard time. If their boy is enjoying himself and is fun to watch, I can't fault them for getting excited.

I got no dog in this fight but it seems to me, based on your OP and most of the responses, there are a lot of folks a little triggered by this. Did a bunch of you have a kid lose a starting spot to a younger kid playing up?
But I will say, from my observations going all the way back to when I was a kid, there have always been a few parents, particularly dads, who seem to be living vicariously through their kid.

When my travel ball girls turned 14 we moved up to 18u... Reason they were playing school ball against 17-18 year olds anyway.
