My grandmother used to write a lot. When she died my grandfather gave me her pen.
One of the most precious gifts I’ve ever gotten.

What line of work are you in where people frequently try to forge your signature?

Exactly. I don't know if people buy nice pens on their own. I gave a couple of girls who just graduated from LSU a purple pen with their name and graduation year engraved on it as graduation gifts. I don't know the brand, but the pens cost about $35 each. I got a similar gift when I graduated HS years ago and still have it. I think it's a cool gift.

Nothing wrong with being a little pretentious.

Nice
Do you give your signing pen away once used?

I don't think having a nice pen is pretentious. I don't buy them anymore. I lost (usually left in courtrooms or offices) a number of Mont Blanc and Waterman pens.
The guy who really impressed me was a court reporter I knew in the late 70s early 80s. He was a court reporter at the Nuremberg trials. When he sat down to serve as a court reporter at a deposition he would take out a bottle of blue ink and 4-5 beautiful (and very expensive) fountain pens - not the ones with cartridges, but the ones that sucked up ink - and report the deposition in shorthand on a steno pad. He was a genius as a reporter.

The joys of trying to wash those ink stains off our fingers! Hey Iona

I don’t think it’s pretentious at all.
It would be pretentious to break out an ink bottle and fountain pen and write in calligraphy.
Very clever and very funny.

I have a Pelikan for writing thank you notes and signing documents. Everything else is done with a G2.

My all-time favorite pen is a Bic medium point.
I've never gotten along with fine point pens. I write to hard for them.
