Is Open Carry "socially acceptable" where you live?

Assuming it's legal where you live? Here in North Dakota, it is out west. I saw a cowboy carrying 2 Glocks, butt forward, at Walmart. Everywhere else in the State, you'd get dirty looks and perhaps a call to the cops.

Scruffy doesn’t see people open carrying often, but he never noticed it being an issue.

Doesn’t seem to be a problem to the point where Scruffy never even thought about it.

That’s just overcompensating, Doc Holidick

Usually the ones I see are normal folks in normal attire. It’s not my mode of carry but it doesn’t bother me either.

I think most people who open carry are compensating for something. Though I often concealed carry.

I've seen it on occasion in the Mandeville/Covington area at times and nobody around seemed bothered about it.

It's very acceptable but its usually related to hiking/fishing/hunting. You don't see people walking downtown carrying rifles unless theyre in a case.

I REALLY hate people who call the cops when others are exercising a constitutional right.

Don't see many people doing it around the Coast. I don't imagine it'd cause much unrest.

Yeah, firearms are just a part of life. Even most left leaning people casually carry firearms on occasion.

Like what? The people I've seen were not trashy in appearance. Tucked in polo and khakis or jeans.

I always kinda thought I'd rather know who had a gun than didn't in case the shooting started.

Scruffy would like to know, but it would be fine as long as he is notified.

If you're dressed nice no one would give you a second look.

I saw on old man in Winn Dixie the other day with a revolver on his hip. It's not that common though. There's a burger joint in Port Allen that gives you 10% off if you open carry in their restaurant

Side question...

How would you feel about someone carrying in your house without telling you? Been mulling that lately. .my rule is, if the neighborhood is known by it's ward number, take the 9mm. Everyone else a .22 is fine.

I have no problem. A gun on your person is far safer than a gun left in your vehicle.

Texas has had open carry for a year or two. It's been the law in Louisiana since the 1800s.
