On average there are anywhere from 300k-500k gun related deaths in the country.
You need to take some zeroes off that number

I think that’s a referenced total from 2010 when the study was ordered to when the study was completed or released. (~2016). Which would make more sense

NS is nothing like that baw. He's probably one of the most reasonable posters on this site

We've never had 300k gun deaths per year. Hell, total American deaths in all WW2 is 400k
Posted on 9/8/18 at 1:25 pm to fallguy_1978
cool, I figured, his previous posts he seemed reasonable. No offense NS.

yeah my stats are off and I’m scrambling to find the correct ones, but I’m sure there is statistical evidence that exists that there are far more legal instances of gun defense than there are gun related homicides per year

My neighborhood is a legitimate militia. It’s only about 75 houses total, but I’d bet we’ve got well over 50000 rounds of assorted ammo stockpiled of the people I know.

Umm, well here’s a summary by Steven Crowder on the study. But I don’t know your political stance so you might call me a bigoted backwards hillbilly for even linking you to this site:
Where does it say there are 300k-500k gun related deaths a year in the US? That number is incredibly high compared to what I can find (around 30k).
I'm not refuting the results of the study, just the 300k-500k gun death figure. That would be like losing a mid to large sized city every single year. That's the better part of the entire Civil War annually.
eta- I see this was resolved while I was off looking at numbers

Amateurs. I seriously hope my house never catches on fire

I think the defense stats are correct

I think upgrayyed nailed it when he said I need to drop a 0 off my numbers
And my nook in our neighborhood in Spring, Texas is the exact same. Whole lot of Ted Cruz signs and enough firearms and ammo for a small militia. It would not be wise to be a curious criminal in our area. Hell, I pay $15/month to Texas Law Shield so if someone breaks into my home and my wife and I unload on them, neither of us are held liable in any court of law

Open container’s socially acceptable where I live, pretty sure open carry’s no big deal
Posted on 9/8/18 at 1:59 pm to Klark Kent
We live in the middle of BR. Our neighborhood is nice but there are sometimes murders a mile or two away. I'm essentially an educated redneck that grew up into an IT nerd so I have cameras, alarms, glass break and motion sensors and an arsenal that could defend the Alamo for a few hours

How would you feel about someone carrying in your house without telling you?
It depends on who it is, but I’d probably tell them to GTFO. I don’t trust many people with guns. There are a few who I’d be okay with, but if I don’t really know you, don’t bring a gun into my house.

If they don't tell me then I wouldn't know, therefore; I would be unable to form an opinion.

you just described me haha.
educated redneck - check (family from South Mississippi and South Louisiana)
IT nerd - check (been 10 years in O&G IT)
Security system - check (Arlo cameras on every corner)
Arsenal - check (my wife told me no more guns or ammo unless it comes from my monthly allowance)

Open-carrying is a signal that you're scared, weak, and don't understand social signals. Everybody thinks you're a jack-arse.

I’ve only open carried a few times in Louisiana and Texas when in a hairy situation, like being caught at a rough gas station in BFE in the early morning hours.
No issues. I imagine I’d get a few dirty looks in Austin, but not so much in suburbs.

Or it’s their constitutional freedom to do so.
