I always assumed everyone had a gun. That's just part of growing up in South Louisiana

I actually didn't know anyone that didn't have a gun in their house growing up. I grew up in Central/Pride area though. My dad kept a loaded Colt 1911 laying on top of his nightstand 24/7

I really don’t remember seeing people doing it growing up in the 80’s and 90’s however I’ll occasionally see someone doing it now, usually in a grocery store and always an older white guy. I’m not going to lie it makes me a little uneasy especially if my family is with me.

Live Free or Die where I live but there are still plenty of folks who get weirded out at the sight of a gun in public being carried by a civilian.

By the way they act, you'd think anyone carrying is going to start randomly shooting at any minute...

And not one shred of credible research supports this assertion

Well that is not true.

Every single person that has been injured handling their gun or carrying their gun would not have been injured had they not been carrying it.

I am a gun guy but is just BS that your risk of injury from a gun is LESS because you carry a gun. It is a ridiculous notion.

sadly this is very true as well.

Concealed Carry is pretty much the only option. And I’m not an open carry type of guy unless hunting / hiking / camping. But in public, you’re right....too many liberal creaping into Texas

It’s not a ridiculous notion. It’s actually funny you think otherwise. The research and publications are out there. And we’re ordered by OBama to the CDC, but the results weren’t what OBama and the media wanted to hear so it got buried

there were an estimated 300k-500k gun related deaths in the country since 2010 til when the study was completed. Most of which are suicides, which in my opinion shouldn’t count in these statistics. But there are 1.5-2million instances where gun owners have defended their life or the life of others legally with a gun.

So you tell me. Based on that information and common sense: more guns, more responsible gun owners, and more gun education = good or bad?

I've never seen it in my immediate area of WA. I'm almost positive someone would call the cops (not me). But if you drive an hour out of town it's not extremely common but I've seen people do it with no issues.

Where did you get tthat number? I'm finding 38,658 gun deaths for 2016, including suicides.

I think that's perfectly acceptable. I open carry when fishing or hiking but I wouldn't do the same on a Saturday morning trip to Target.

My dad lives out in somewhat rural Montana 5-6 months per year. He carries a S&W 357 on his hip most of the time. I guess it kind of depends on the area/situation to me. I'm definitely not opposed to it being legal though.

It is and if you don't like the research then conduct your own.

You trying to take a page out of Arthur Kellerman? You're a Fudd that has a very poor understanding that there is no link between gun-ownership rates and accidents involving firearms. There has been heavy increases in civilian firearms ownership in the last 20 years yet unintentional injuries involving firearms has been flat. Issued CCW permits have increased 400% in the last 10 years so why has there not been a corresponding increase in negligent injuries? You are completely uneducated on this topic "gun guy". Unfortunately there are plenty of gun owners just like you.

Samesies. I also would never carry when there is alcohol involved in where I’m going / staying. Obviously bars (51% rule), but even if i or the people around me are drinking.

Umm, well here’s a summary by Steven Crowder on the study. But I don’t know your political stance so you might call me a bigoted backwards hillbilly for even linking you to this site:
