Visit for a vacation and site seeing, I think that ship sailed years ago.

Visit for a specific locale/event; sure, you just have to take precautions. If you need to stay overnight, stay in Metairie. Going on a cruise and you're from out of town, make parking accommodations nearby, then uber in to the port (probably cheaper than parking anyway)

New Orleans, has a chance to take a step in the right direction, but the people who live there need to show up on 10/09. The reality is, the ones that want change won't show up, and the people that want the voucher will get on the bus and pull the lever that gave them the free meal.

No reason to come to NOLA. Everything you can do here you can do in a much cooler, nicer, safer city. I've lived here my whole and I am usually amazed when going to other cities.

If you enjoy museums, the Memorial Hall Confederate Museum is still in business, but better hurry. It’s a block down from where they removed Lee from Lee Circle.

And of course the WWII Museum is here.

Historic statues, busts, and plaques across the city have been removed, festivals in the near future are canceled, and the biggest tourist draw in the city has shootouts every weekend.

Nope. Music, food, and architecture didn’t have vax cards so they left town

It's fine if you're looking to get stabbed.

Funny, I’ve lived here 42 years, never stabbed. And for the last 15 I’ve worked on the medical side and have rarely seen a random tourist, not involved in breaking a law, drugs, prostitution, etc., stabbed.

You apparently know more though, so keep giving out that expert advice.

For anyone else who actually knows their history and likes good music, good food, good people, New Orleans is a wonderful place to visit.
At the moment I would hold off. Wait until this covid spike or whatever they’re calling it goes away.

I have close family members who are very successful professionals and have lived in NOLA their entire lives. Speaking to them last week they explained they dont go out to eat as a family, mostly because they dont want deal with being the potential victim of a crime. Ironically, they are both very liberal and participated in the BLM marches last year. If folks like this are worried about crime to the point that they dont patronize local businesses, what does that say about how bad crime really is?

Just making a statement based on numerous facts about the place.

It smells like a sewer.
The entire city is dirty.
Bums galore.
Thugs spraying bullets in the tourist areas.

That is just not true. My neighborhood smells like magnolia trees and confederate jasmine.

Was looking into going on a cruise out of NOLA

Well, doesn't sound like you're really visiting then. Simply passing thru.

Sorry, but NO is a shite hole.

While there are some cool and interesting places to visit getting there and back from them always exposes you to danger. Especially for a tourist who might not know that taking a left hand turn in a street I stead of a right could get you in a life or death situation.

Never bring your family to the city after dark.
