Wife's qx60 was totalled and we got an audi q7. Very happy with the way things turned out in the end. Would not buy again personally. just not the same as the Lexus we had and the Audi we now have.

Do people really cross-shop those little market segments they set up? Like, look at an Accord, a Camry, and an Altima, and then do some kind of box-checking exercise? Seems sheep-like.

Maybe I'm weird but I've never done that. It's always been more like, well, I trust Subarus, do I want a Forester, or a WRX, or a base-model Impreza, or an Outback? And I generally flirt with getting a Wrangler every time I car shop. As long as it can seat 4 people and has some cargo space I can make it work.

I had a late 90’s Maxima and it was awesome. Then followed that with an i35(?) and it sucked. Pretty car but valve and timing chain issues.

The Japanese succeeded, though, because those first Acura, Lexus, and Infiniti products were really good. It's been a while since any of those brands put out something that really appealed to me, though, like the original Q45 or SC400 did.

Not even the Lexus LC 500? Every time is see one on the road I stare at it as long as I can. One of the last NA v8s and the one I’ve sat in had very premium interior finishings.

The bmw, Audi, and others are just meh. They appeal to the emotional. But once you dig deeper they’re nothing more than a pig with a bow tie and some lipstick.
LOfrickingL. Lexus=uninspring boat. When have they had anything that could honestly compete with a Audi RS, BMW M or AMG? The only thing they have those cars beat on is reliablity.

You know, I'm not sure I've ever seen one, and that kind of surprises me. I see all sorts of expensive cars where I live, but just don't recall ever seeing an LC 500.

There's nothing competitive nor compelling about the product. No real identity. I couldn't name a single Infiniti model that I would own unlike Audi, BMW or Mercedes.

German brands are always more driver focused, but you can't keep them for a long period of time without pouring out your pockets over and over. The Japanese brands are still the better option for long term ownership.

I saw one a red LC 500 a while back. I don't typically like red on any car other than a Ferrari or an Alpha, but that thing was very fine.

They should pull the plug on the cvt transmission.

To say they had some issues with it is certainly an understatement!

Ferrari or an Alpha,

Get it right- Alfa!

But I agree, they do look better in red. I have an '84 GTV-6 in red and a black Milano.

I took a trip last year and was all set to rent an LC 500 through turo. Was fricking pumped because we were going to be taking some mountain roads during the course of the trip.

3 fricking days before our trip turo pulled our reservation because the renter from just before our trip ran over something and punctured the gas tank. Was in constant contact with the owner because I still wanted the car. He had it fixed at the dealer and it was ready to go, but Turo dragged arse and wouldn't approve it to be put back on the platform. Trip was still a blast but I was gutted.

Ended up getting an Audi SQ5, which was surprisingly really good and sounded awesome.

I think they now get some unfair beef over their CVT units. They did have problems early on with high failure rates. That has for the most part been resolved years ago. The second wave of CVT complaints comes from the weird feel of a CVT. People like to feel the "shift" and often perceived the high revving non shifting as a fault.

They have now programmed in a shift pattern to make it feel like a normal transmission.

They third thing is that they put this CVT is just about every damn vehicle they make. Unlike Ford or Chevy that has 16 transmission models depending on what model car. There are just millions of these CVTs on the road.

The LFA was sweet, the exhaust note is up there with the Italian V12s.

The current LC is a nice GT w/ of luxury and perf and Lexus will be offering a 5xxhp SUV soon.
