This is going to be very bad for Karen's self esteem. She can't afford a real luxury brand....but she still needs to feel superior to her Toyota/Ford/GMC-driving neighbors.

Cadillac has changed their mind - they are renaming their cars to something meaningful again over the next few years.

I want to see the "Fleetwood" make a return.

You can get an Infiniti for the price of a similar sized loaded up Toyota or Honda. And you will still wish you bought the loaded up Toyota or Honda.

This is true for all ‘luxury’ car companies. A loaded out accord is like $39,000 you can buy a low end similar Lexus, Audi, BMW, Acura, etc for that

Nissan and Infiniti have an unfortunate history of catastrophic transmission problems.

On top of that, the quality of pretty much everything Infiniti offers is far lower than all luxury car competitors. In many cases, they are behind even mainstream competitors.

No one buys these things because they want them. They buy them because they are cheaper than the alternative.

Probably. Doug Demuro said it best when he discussed it: anyone who chooses to buy an Infiniti right now over other luxury brands only chose it because it was much cheaper. Infiniti is like the Great Value brand of the lux auto world.

*Edit for better analogy.

I test drove one when I was looking for a car back at the end of 2019. Easily the most uncomfortable, worst driving higher end branded car I drove. How the hell they sell any of them is beyond me.

Where it counts?? If that means motor then not at all.. They may have shared a few components but they were nothing similar.. Now the non turbo Supra and the SC300 shared the same inline 6 but that's about it.

Have you driven a V6 or V8 Nissan recently? Even if you can ignore the horrible infotainment, dated design, and CVTs....you will hear the lack of quality in the engine

My wife has 2014 Armada with the V8 and 81k miles and there aint nothing wrong with the engine at all. Not sure what infotainment is exactly but if that's the dash gauges and stuff then yea I'll give you that, its old as shite. Our 2011 fords had better digital gauges and dials than the 14 Nissan

When I was shopping for a new car, the Infiniti M37 was less expensive overall than the Euro options, had better performance and power, had included features that I definitely wanted in my budget (whereas the Euros largely didnt)...backup camera, bluetooth, etc, and maintenance is a fraction of the cost of the Euros. Not to mention, I love the design of my car. The interiors of BMWs are largely plastic and ugly (black and orange), the Mercedes interior was fine but nothing special.

I'd certainly buy another one.

I’ve always felt that Infiniti and Acura are never considered in the same class as Mercedes BMW, Lexus and Audi.

The cvt transmission is a problem, but outside of that the brand is solid. I have been through bmw, Audi, and Land Rover. All beautiful cars but absolutely shite quality. The plastics would get sticky when it got hot outside. The electronics were terrible. The worst was the drivetrain. After 40,000 they’re all ticking time bombs. And they are always stupid expensive to fix.

Well I can afford to have, and have owned, the other brands you speak of. They are arse. I’ll take the qx or lx over anything else. As far as sedans, the ls is the best and will last forever. The bmw, Audi, and others are just meh. They appeal to the emotional. But once you dig deeper they’re nothing more than a pig with a bow tie and some lipstick.

Your opinion is what it is, you’ve owned them. That said, the automotive publications and bloggers unanimously agree that Acura and Infiniti are nowhere near the other brands. Lexus is the only Japanese luxury brand worth owning. Even Hyundai’s Genesis brand is outplaying Acura and Infiniti.
