The oil will but the filter won’t, so if you change the filter only at 10 you will be good.

That is what I was thinking of doing.

Blackstone Labs has done an analysis on all my changes and recommended 9000 miles for the ‘normal’ Mobil 1 synthetic

No, my uncle works for Mobil and says that oil is fake oil.

You change the oil in your car?

Why wouldn't you just trade it in for a new one when the oil gets old?

What kinda oil are you buying for $101? I changed the oil in my truck for a bit less than that . That’s 13 qts of Rotella synthetic with a Motorcraft filter.

My 07 Cayman S calls for Mobil 1 at 20k intervals. Blows my mind.

I've actually read about someone who used a vacuum cleaning on the fill to suspend the oil while they pulled the filter.

Or just turn the engine off and let the oil drain into the pan before pulling the filter. All you will lose is what is in the filter and a slight amount of residual due to design. 1qt max.

8 quarts of the oil plus filter was $101.

I did all the labor.

I know, I recently changed a 7qt car with that for a friend.

I didn't realize they made a new filter rated 20k for it, advance didn't have those 20k annual ones.

I put some 15k mobile oil in a car and the change filter alarm went off about 9k miles.

If you are going to change the filter at 7500-10k miles and have to get under the car so jack it up and what not, how much harder is it to really Change the damn oil? Not hard, and personally I'd rather have new oil then better old Azz oil for 10k miles.

Cheaper than buying a new vehicle because you fell for a marketing gimmick.

Oil's job is to suspend contaminates. Just because it synthetic doesn't mean it can suspend more than regular oil. Don't go over 5,000 if you do a lot of in town driving. Only go longer if you do long interstate drives weekly. I never go over 5,000.

I use Mobil 1 Extended Performance (15k mi) and filters in my 5.3L GM. I've done Blackstone lab analysis several times always with 10k+ and sometime 14-15k on the clock and the analysis commentary comes back saying I could go farther. My oil change gauge usually pops at around 12k.
