It’s really not a Trump card. Until you actually do have mental health issues then come back and post. You are over generalize every person a mental health issue as one and laziness. Why’s it matter to you anyway because you get a pay check.

Pretty much. I cannot tell you how many times an 18 year old tells me that they are "going through a lot". This is the excuse that they give to not have to meet job expectations which they knew about when applying for the job

This is a good way to find out who the mentally weak people are so you know not to depend on them.

Not all of it but there is no incentive to cure anyone. Lifetime counseling is very profitable, as are pharmaceuticals.

It is, but we now rejoice at those with mental health issues instead of getting them the help they need. We even vote for them more than those with common sense.

bipolar just another word for crazy

Sure some people abuse the system but there are a ton of people that have real issues. The people saying "toughen up" and "we need bullying" are obviously blessed enough not to have ever experienced any sort of real mental health issues with themselves or their family members. Ignorance is bliss I guess.
Well that, and you don’t have to be off your rocker to need to take a minute to breathe over the course of working 50 hours a week for 50 years with just the lightest scattered vacations (still answering calls/emails often)

This is a liar vs not liar issue. Most of the people using it as an excuse don't think they have a serious mental health issue because the vast majority of them are not getting professional help. It is no different than calling up and faking a cough.

And a part of my paycheck goes to support people who defraud welfare, social security, and the mental health system.

I think mental health gets claimed in a lot cases without the person looking at what they are doing to cause crises or at least not alleviate crises.
I also think a lot of people like to sound off about how mental health is bullshite and people need to toughen up without knowing what the frick they are talking about.
Allowing people to have some time to figure out a good work life balance, make sure they don't get burnt out will probably benefit a lot of employers in the long run although it may seem challenging at first - but if you develop a good and lasting working relationship with someone it will be better than running through a bunch of employees.

Used to be a "Insanity" plea.
The "Mental Health" excuse covers the entire spectrum of criminal behavior. It's the Perfect Mulligan.
This is what we get for letting the Psychiatry / Psychology rackets run our justice system.

I think the excuse gets abused, but I also think everyone is holding in some amount of crazy at all times and sometimes something happens and a little gets out. In that case I agree the person probably needs to get away for a bit before all the crazy comes out. I don't want an employee on full tilt trying to produce work or interact with other employees and clients.

Tell me you haven't encountered someone with legitimate mental health issues without telling me.

That’s it? If someone is depressed, that’s life? Go outside? That’s the simple answer to that riddle? Is it really that easy to pull yourself out of that hole? What about addiction?

No doubt. I'm sure there are some people that try to milk this, but that is with everything in life. I think a LOT of people would give anything to be able to brush things off and not be aware of the way something like chronic panic attacks or depression affects them, not to mention more serious disorders. I'm sure once that door opens its not something that is easy to forget, which makes it continue as they can't control their mind. People that don't have any of these issues should be thankful. But I'm no doctor.

The only real mental health issues are schizophrenia and actual bipolar disorder (not the new version they made up about 30 years ago that suddenly everyone has - the one that makes you an actual out of control maniac with hallucinations and delusions of superman abilities and such)
The rest? Depression, anxiety, PTSD? That's just how we've all gone through life since forever and we just had to suck it up and go to work and school anyway. That's what alcohol is for.
