It’s been dead, just not buried yet. Will soon be with other cable outlets. Tune into Jim Acosta at midnight for his new show slot. Bye, bye Jim.

The only network show we currently watch is St. Denis Medical on NBC.

It's a mockumentary style show set in an underfunded hospital. Stars Wendi McLendon-Covey, David Alan Grier, and a pretty solid ensemble cast. Not bad.

I dunno but watching Cam Newton bitch out from the tear gas on the Fox Special Forces show was great.

I don't understand folks that can sit in front of a TV unless there is a football game on.

Those devices can access all sorts of interesting content these days, even when football is out of season. It seems such a shame to be so limited in things that interest you.

Will Trump make TV great again?

I don’t think they’re renewing The Apprentice for another four years at the earliest

Sopranos is my favorite show ever,

I think sopranos revolutionized TV by showing what's possible when unrestrained by FCC guidelines.

I've seen a handful of network TV shows over the past 15 years or so, and they pale in comparison to what can be consumed on HBO, Netflix, Amazon, etc

I actually find myself watching Hallmark channel cause I’m disgusted with the violence, sex and utter bullshite they showcase now. That and the Alaska people on whatever channel that is.

In the 70s and 80s networks had a virtual monopoly on TV and exploited it to inject all kinds of morally deplorable shite. I personally as a teen enjoyed seeing Pamala’s tits on Dallas, etc., but I see how all that shite, talking about getting it on, Sam Malone being good in the sack, on and on, wasn’t good for kids and family. It only got worse in the 90s. But then other options arose and many/most people now choose otherwise.

They redid matlock and it was okay but then I figured out that the OG mattock was on paramount plus as well so me and Andy Griffith been solving crimes for the last 18 hours.

But I suspect a lot of older people still do, so the ratings are still there somewhat (more than you’d think).

They don’t want older people watching. They want 18-49

It’s been dead for sometime. The last good shows were The Office and Big Bang Theory.

I believe those are insanely popular. Aren’t there multiple variations of those that have been on for like 15-20+ years? Maybe most shows are out of season.
I think the target demo is like 55 year old women.

I do miss the network tv model occasionally, but nothing has even remotely interested me in the past few years or so. I think Parenthood on nbc, Brooklyn 99 & new girl are the last shows I watched.

Depends on how you define dead.

It still exists and probably will for awhile, so not dead in that regard.

As far as effectively dead? Yes. The ratings are terrible. The shows have absolutely no pop culture impact. What little audience the shows have are mostly old people. The production value and acting are noticably terrible. Feels like all the talent left for greener pastures.

Seriously. There's no way they have ratings, right?

TV and movie industries ran out of fresh ideas a while back. “Reality TV” and the talent shows were the last gasp.

Probably already been said, but as long as they broadcast over the air, they are subject to FCC regulations, for example, no nudity / explicit sex.

Those rules don't apply to streaming services.

For example, Landman (Paramount+) would not be allowed to be broadcast on CBS.
