When I was there we all had dreads and spent our spare time twerking.
Pour one out for the early 1990s.

Don’t care about the racial breakdown but we need selective admissions! It after all is supposed to be our “flagship”.

Plantation trace was called Plantation Trash back in the 90's.
This needs to be bulldozed and that strip from Lee Drive to Plantation Trace Subdivision completely redeveloped.

In a word, yes. My kid goes to Auburn. Best money we ever spent.

LSU may be the worst in the SEC.
Auburn, Alabama, Vanderbilt, Florida are better.
That's the ones I've been to; BR, and thus LSU, has deteriorated rapidly in the last 5 years.
It is embarrassing, honestly.

Right next to Ward Creek. Passed by that crick (OK, ditch) today while zipping down Choctaw.

Same here. My daughter currently a junior in HS and debating if I want her going there.
My daughter is a senior this year and wanted to stay in state because of TOPS. She used to say she wanted to go to LSU because I’m an LSU alum but that changed a couple of years ago. She doesn’t want to go there because of what the culture has become and the safety. We definitely didn’t disagree with her. She has decided on Southeastern now. It’s very sad to see the drastic change LSU has made.

Google crime in Hammond, LA:
Recent Incidents (2025): Recent news reports in 2025 include a fatal shooting investigation by the Hammond Police Department and an incident where three men fled a gas station after a crash, reportedly with "machine guns". A man was also arrested in 2025 for the kidnapping and rape of a woman from a local Target store.
Crime has no boundaries.

Social media has away of making things seem different than they appear. With that said, I have only been to LSU for sporting events and for baseball or softball games it seems like you get a better feel of things around campus specifically when going to the area where Fat Boys Pizza is, there are those apartments are whatever in the back and from what I can tell there is obviously more black students, which by themselves don't appear to be a problem, but the people who bring them back to their apartments, or some black girl's boyfriend.. That seems to be where the "ghetto" comes in.
But that isn't really anything new, its just that there is more. And I really do hate to lump everyone in that group because I have friends whose kids are at LSU and active on campus some friends are black and they are sweet kids. I wouldn't say its ghetto, but I would say if you haven't been there in the past 10 years its definitely different.
And I think it also where you are on campus. Different majors tend to attract different groups of people..
I remember when there was a section in the quad where the black people hung out..
Well, I should say where the athletes, who were black, hung out. It was that area in the quad where you could walk through it.. Like if you were coming from Coates you could walk through and then on the other end you come out to the parking lot and you would be looking straight at Lockett.
