Hate all the negativity in this thread and honesty, it should be whacked. LSU is a great American institution and it will be great after all of the losers bitching and moaning are dead and gone. FOREVER LSU.

You want LSU to be a white albatross unreflective of neither it's state nor its local environment.
I want it to have standards. If you want to argue that over time the populace has become more retarded and therefore LSU should reflect that, then I'd say you're a part of that populace.

I'm not the one who used the nation only being 13% black as justification for saying LSU is too black.

If the numbers at LSU stay this out of proportion (blacks making up 13% of the population but 45+% of the student body), it will be a self fulfilling prophecy. Whites won’t even want to attend LSU.

You can pretend you didn't use the national average to say LSU has too many black people all you want though. Intellectual honesty died a LONG time ago on this board, you can continue the trend. You do you, man.

LSU is currently at 18% of student body black. Miss State is the only other SEC school over 12%, and they are around 15%. Mississippi has a higher percentage black population than Louisiana, and yet OM and State have smaller percentages of black students. Most SEC schools have 6-10%. Tate and crew had to work to get the numbers that high. It was by design.

Just to be clear much of this discussion has been about the racial make up of the last 2 or 3 freshmen classes.

The Baton Rouge demo should have 0 to do with LSU demographics. But to your point about state demographics, Louisiana has a black demo of 31%. The last two freshman classes being 48+% black is a great way to drive off white students and white money.

It’s not nearly as ghetto as you would think…it’s WAY MORE GHETTO THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE.

When my son started at LSU last fall he went to some of the “functions” that LSU puts on that first week after move in and wouldn’t go to anymore. I asked what the problem was and he said it was mostly ghetto trash and the girls were all twerking and such.
Hopefully with the school going k to required act/sat scores, the quality of both black and white students enrolling gets better.

Katrina caused a lot of damage. Nola people needed inexpensive “short term” housing ..similar damage happened in Houston.. city eventually target the areas with significant police presence and chased them back to Nola.

This won't help address the realities of the problem.

Do you smell the failure?

Universities including the flagship do not need to be reflective of their state or city when historically black universities exist in both. Shut those black universities down, and you would come closer to making a valid point before also the need to factor in university standards including qualities of high school educations using standard testing of enrollees.

Also, do you really think the largest source of the black increases at LSU are coming from Louisiana???? Tate’s focus was out of state, and it wasn’t white out of state students.

Fall of 2021 % of all undergraduates on campus:
whites: 65.7% with 17,180 enrollees.
blacks: 15.6% with 4,069 enrollees.

Residency
Louisiana: 74.5% with 19,489 enrollees
Out of state/country: 25.5% with 6,660 enrollees

Fall of 2025 % of all undergraduates on campus:
whites: 53.9% with 16,105 enrollees
blacks: 23.5% with 7,026 enrollees

Residency
Louisiana: 66.8% with 19,966 enrollees
Out of state/country: 33.2% with 9,914 enrollees

Back in the fall of 2021 LSU stated 30.3% of the incoming freshman were Pell eligible. They haven’t been as forthcoming in their highlight articles since.

LSU’s total undergraduate enrollment on campus consisted of 23.5% black enrollees for the fall 2025 semester (not including online students, law or vet school, other graduate level students, professional, or high school duel enrolled). It was 20.9% when you include all graduate and professional level students and the high school duel enrolled students.

LSU throws out numbers for undergraduates, all on campus enrollees, or all on campus and online depending on what it wants to push or hide.

I have been to every campus in the SEC except A&M and Oklahoma. LSU by far had the shittiest area surrounding a campus. That was before it got bad. I had no desire to go again but with how bad it is said to be now, I know I won’t go back.

Hmmm
Not uncommon for schools to have a nice side and a bad side.. old historic areas.. one side depreciates ..

fwiw you can pick up a house on lsu blvd ( one block off campus)… for around a million dollars.. or a condo looking across the lake at lsu for 750k … or maybe a different house on university lake looking at lsu for 2.8 million..

Nah just get mr canes house that looks across the small lake to lsu dorms.. not sure the richest man in Louisiana and in the top hundred richest in the US is gonna sell it .
