Is LSU becoming more ghetto? Is there a solution?

I come in peace as a Bama dude on this topic.
I’ve enjoyed my visits to LSU even though y’all are batshite crazy in a good way. But the area surrounding the campus is shocking. You wouldn’t know you’re about to roll up on a campus where 10s of thousands of young people are going to school and attempting to live. Add in the issues with “youths” at “tailgates” and the shite seems to cross over on to campus at least I’m some ways.
I also saw that video of those girls twerking at the orientation and wonder if y’all notice a difference in the student body as well? I think LSU is a really cool place, but is it being ghettofied or is the threat overblown? Do students have to deal with the hood much or at least more than other SEC students?

Ever been to Columbia, SC?

Look at their parents. The 40-60 range of adults reminisce about rap songs in their adolescence and will watch reels with throwbacks about how ratchet they were growing up.
Go back and look at Reggies or Fred's 20 years ago and adults were saying the same thing that the current is saying about LSU being too ghetto.

Ghettofied and I’ve lived in BR over 50 years.

Tate let in a ton of minorities because he lowered entrance levels and removed ACT requirements.
Seems the new admin has interest in raising them or at least making it a little more restrictive.
But yes a big ghetto cohort that would have either never gone to college or gone to southern ended up at LSU.
Maybe when those kids drop out or graduate things will balance out some.

I actually was one year during the tax free weekend. Ended up at the mall without knowing.

That was a solution
We had DEI come in and declare we needed more of the D’s E’s and I’s.
The more you know!

To answer, yes.
To answer more broadly, this is a real issue everywhere east of the Rockies.
Most places are becoming more ghetto. Are all places becoming ghetto? No. Most subdivision that 25 years ago someone would have considered someone having "made it" are now a mix of upstanding people, and people who somehow came into a little bit of money or financing and don't know how to act.
My hypothesis is that from 2005 - 2022, you had two instances of people basically being gifted homes. One where mortgage apps weren't strict (05-08), another where money was basically free (19-21). You had defaults from this lending, but some people stayed. Other people left and rented out their houses. Blackrock scooped up a ton of residential homes and rented them out to folks who would otherwise be in a lower-class neighborhood.
My hypothesis relates to middle class suburbs, but I think it makes the issues worse the farther down you go the income ladder.

It's like a DEI hire.
There have been problems along Highland and S. Stadium and down by the Law School but the powers that be closed off the first site mentioned.

You can always tell the people who drove from I-10 to Tiger Stadium and thought they saw all of Baton Rouge
I never had a single issue in 4 years at LSU.

Yes it is and it happened quick
Season ticket holder for 4 years before COVID, and going to games since 2008.
We took our daughter to a game last year against South Carolina (first game since 2018) and it was insane. Weed smoke everywhere you walked. Multiple shots fired right outside the stadium
It felt like I was on a different campus

shite changed drastically during and after COVID with the bullshite holistic admission policy and not requiring a ACT or SAT test score. Reinstate that and things might get better in 5 to 10 years. Also LSU needs to cut student body count by 25%. Campus in its current form cannot handle an enrollment much over 30K.
ETA: Season ticket holder for 25!years and gave them up after the 22 season because tailgating on campus became unbearable with all the “teens” infiltrating the campus.

LSU has been engaged in completely unconstitutional and illegal DEI practices for the last 20 years. The last president we had put that on steroids. Even the recent Supreme Court case declaring DEI unconstitutional did nothing to lesson the LSU DEI onslaught.
We just got rid of the entire DEI department this past week. Hopefully that’ll help get rid of the ghetto culture on campus. It might also eliminate all the twerking kweens and strippers at tailgates and during orientation.

So Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, or California are doing great? I think new mexico is now our top violent crime state, but Alaska may still be holding on. Did you just arbitrarily choose a dividing line that made no sense
