Has anyone else noticed that Life Storage seems to be every where now. Buying up locally owned or smaller storage facilities. It may just be me, as a happy 6+ year tenet of Uncle Bobs, when they sold out to Life Storage everything changed. Rate increases, Penalties and bad customer relations, no personal service. My unit flooded twice since ‘16 forcing me to remove everything and replace. After resent flood I down sized in order to save money when larger unit wasn’t needed. Had to re-sign tenet agreement and they raised the rent for a smaller unit as I then became a New Tenet after 6 years! Life Storage I’m done with you.

1 massive storage places just opened in metry and another once about 3 times as big is being built within 2 miles.

Is there THAT much demand for storage space?

I’m fascinating how so many people around here need extra storage.

How much have you spent in rent the last six years, and what's the total value of the items you have stored?

I’ve noticed them taking over, and that Mavis Discount Tire, who I’ve not previously heard of, bought out every tire shop in the area outside of Chabills

Not just Life Storage, but other storage facilities are becoming ubiquitous.. Extra Space, CubeSmart, you name it.. and of course Public Storage.

Ive used storage facilities in the past, and what really stinks is that the new industry standard is automatic rate increases every few months.. 10 yrs ago or so, i had a small storage unit at a Public Storage in Houston that was 3x5 i think; i found a $49 rate online, and put some stuff there since i was in an apartment at the time.. rate stayed the same for 2 or 3 yrs.. But at the last place i rented a unit (Extra Space), they did a ‘review’ every 3 or 4 months and raised my rate about $15 each time, which adds up quickly.. i asked around, and apparently that’s the new model industry-wide.

Yes. I personally know of a developer that is planning 10 new multi-story storage facilities in and around the NO market in the next 2-3 years.

Demand is insane.

There's been several massive Life Storage places go up this year in BR. It is odd.

They actually dont need extra storage, they just don't have the balls to get rid of stuff so they pay out the arse every month.

I’ll be the first to admit we have too much shite in our house. We could probably get rid of about half of it and never miss it. But I’ll be damned if I’m going to have so much stuff I have to rent a storage unit. It’s one thing to have one for a month or two during a move or remodel or something. But to keep one indefinitely.... I don’t think so.
