Life Storage

The place is awesome. What are you complaining about?

I've got eight lives stored around town in their facilities and have zero problems. I'm able to come and go as I please because each one likes to eat at different times. It's great that they work on my timeframe and never ask any questions about the noises.

Yes. I personally know of a developer that is planning 10 new multi-story storage facilities in and around the NO market in the next 2-3 years.
I know already in the past 12 months there has been a Cubesmart go up on Severn, a Cubesmart on Causeway, and Extra Space opened one on Citrus and has 2 being built on Tchoupitoulas

When I read your thread my first thought was you had a couple of beds and some other furniture in storage(that you weren’t using)

NO furniture. Not everyone uses storage facilities to store the things they don't use. For me it is like extra square footage in my office. Only I am not paying $26 per sq ft. to store items that are consumables. Items that I use every day, replacing, reordering every month. As far as my unit flooding, Life Storage doing what they have to do. Forcing everyone to remove/discard any items that are water damaged while the unit is sanitized.but even if the items did not get wet. they still had to be removed for the same reason.

I know more than one person who uses a storage unit as a business. The guy in a unit next to mine sells full time on ebay. It is his warehouse, he is in it just about everyday. Another is a self employed contractor, Ive seen him there at all hours building cabinets and things.

It used to be in NOLA area that every new construction was a bank or a Walgreens. Now, every new construction is a storage place.

Massive one on Airline by Labarre that takes up several blocks and a massive one on Citrus in Elmwood. It boggles my mind that there is enough demand for this.

I rented one for a few months (not in NOLA) when moving, and most were fully booked.

I think a lot just don't have large turnover because people are using them for their business or rent for personal reasons and then just forget about it.

if you have so much shite that you need to rent a place to put that shite then you need to get rid of that shite

For us, we have inherited a ton of antique furniture from our family that we want to use when we eventually get a bigger house, but don't have room for it currently.

I'm not getting rid of that shite.

Yeah, it is a way to invest in land and make somewhat passive income over a period of decades while the land appreciates in value.

Then you sell to developers in 20 years and make fricking bank.

I know several wealthy people in Nashville that are building them all over the place on land they bought on pure speculation it will appreciate as the city expands.

I’ve got one with my girlfriend. Two apartments down to one apartment meant we had a lot of extra things to store for a year or so.

As one poster noted, the rate increase after a few months is BS.

Rented a unit for a short time recently during remodel protect. After 4th month, Life Storage increased rate by 25%. So long Life Storage.
