It's called being a professional and out of town . Or just getting out the house when the fam is riding your nuts.

I usually do this because it gets expensive if I bring my wife, so I usually just leave her at home.

No, it is not weird. Yes, I do this. Say I'm on a business trip. Or running out for a quick lunch from work. Or shite maybe I have just been having a craving for a particular restaurant, and no one else is feeling it. It's only weird if you make it weird. I'm not afraid to be independent. I also almost exclusively attend movies by myself.

I don't require the presence or approval of others to make it in life. I do, however, require food to survive. Therefore, if I'm alone and hungry and want to eat at a restaurant, I eat at a restaurant and dgaf what some moron thinks about it. Easy enough.

...

I was watching this show with a schizophrenic character, and he said, "if you are lonely when you are alone then you keep bad company." Is it bad that I think that is awesome?

It was helpful in my education.

Fear of Flying kinda undid that, though.

Just did it. Lunch usually not dinner. And usually go to a place with a bar. Even if I am going to drink tea I will sit at the bar. Better service and looks more normal.

If it's a traditional family dining type place, I'd order to go and just eat in my vehicle. I don't mind eating in say a Quiznos or fast food place by myself.

that strikes me as much more weird than sitting alone at a table. to be fair though, i eat alone pretty regularly, i just bring a book or kindle and enjoy my food and reading

I travel one or two weeks a month for work and I eat alone pretty much all time, doesn't bother me at all. At lunch I'm usually in and out of someplace pretty quick but at dinner I'll take my time. But to me it's not weird at all.

I do it. Sometimes I just want some quiet and don't want to talk to anyone. But I still like good food.

Did it today for lunch, in fact.

I don't like talking or visiting when I'm trying to eat so I do it a lot.

I have never been comfortable eating out by myself. That is odd for me because I am really independent and I am introverted so doing things by myself is usually something I love. I almost always see movies by myself. Not sure why eating out is different for me.

I do it all the time, lunch or dinner, travelling or local.

How insecure and uncomfortable with one's self does a person need to be to not eat alone?
