What about these open marriage weirdos that don't like the child free lifestyle and are loving and happy parents to well adjusted kids?

Because I know a few of them.

Anything is possible when it comes to changing one's mind.

Based on my career, but more so her career, I'd take any bet of any amount of money that in 5 years when she's 32/33, she'll be even more adamant about her not wanting children. Unless she wakes up one day and decides she hates practicing law, no longer wants to be a partner at her firm, loves children, hates the life we live, and has no problem accepting the now sunk cost of having paid for law school.

It's certainly possibly.

I'll take that bet. $200 in 2022 money(so maybe $280) this happens.

the possibility of an open marriage and well adjusted kids seems highly unlikely

but hey, maybe I'm just a close minded idiot

Are you a genius or making the world better? Or a selfish little bitch?

I'm an engineer by trade but I mostly work on large development projects and R&D work. I'm definitely not saving the world. But I work a lot. It would be difficult with my career, at least right now. I think it would be exponentially more difficult given my fiance's career.

I have a difficult time seeing this decision as one that could ever be selfish considering we're discussing selfishness as it relates to a person who does not exist. How can one deprive nothing of something?

Not a typical one. Or she'd be content to stay at home and pop out kids.

My SO doesn't do any of those fancy things, but he lives out of town 67% of the year currently and will do so 50% of the year eventually.. will never be living in our home 100% of the year unless something way out of plan happens.

Although that has absolutely zero to do with the reasons he does not want kids, I think it would be a bit silly for someone to try to convince someone who is away 67% of the year to reproduce.

Right, because women can only stay at home with kids or work and have no kids. Definitely no other possibilities between those two.

I'd agree if she hated her job. She's ultra competitive and really enjoys what she does. I know a lot of women in her field do hate their jobs. I hear about it all the time from her when she shits on how other women want to be treated the same as men but are unwilling to make the sacrifices men make. She's looked at differently because the current partners know she has no desire to be a mother.

I don't think it's fair to a child to try to have it both ways. I don't want my kids raised by a daycare. Neither of us would be ok with that. My mom stopped working when my sister and I were born and, growing up, I appreciated that she was there for us and we weren't shuffled around day cares. We were fortunate that my dad did well financially and she could afford to do that.

It's not a woman vs man thing either. I don't care which one of us does it, but I believe one of us would need to be there during those formative years.

I know there are those who will disagree.

I hate it when people not much older than me act like they know shite

But I'm doing that to you right now

Just don't be surprised if and when she falls out of love with partnership track precisely around the time you predicted

Signed, the SO of a formerly "atypical" female big law associate on partnership track who now dreams of a life of domestication

So women can only either work or have kids?

Like I said, no one is complaining that you don't pass your genes on.

So only mom stays at home or various day cares are the only options?

You're more clueless than I imagined, and I'm not sure how that's possible.

Try as you might, LNCHBOX, there's no way for you to positively spin your only lasting 3 minutes before orgasm.
