Is it possible to get a slight smoke smell out of a used car?

We’re getting fricked hard looking for a secondary vehicle. Budget is $25k or less for a sedan with good MPG. We found a 2020 Nissan Altima for $24k, but the a/c has what-might-be a cigarette smell. They’re replacing the carbon air filter this morning, and we’re supposed to test drive again when they’re done.
I’ve been looking for a car for almost a month. The market is insane. I looked into getting a new car from two dealerships but both said it would be months before it could come in.
So is it possible to get the smell out of it’s cigarettes? I’m not even totally sure it is. There’s no evidence of smoke stains inside the vehicle and shoving my nose into the seats doesn’t bring about any cigarette smells.

Nope. That stale odor will always be there.

I've seen some ionizer ads for it but no idea if they work. Dryer sheets under the seats may help.

Buy or borrow an Ozone Generator. Let it run in the car for a day or 2 with all windows/doors shut.

Yeah that’s probably the best word to describe it. Stale. But it’s only when the a/c is running.

Ozone is the correct answer. Amazing

It’s awful man. Cars with 100k+ miles, 6-7 years old are $20k.

I bought a truck from a pot head Indian. The curry smell was rough to get out. I got liquid febreeze and soaked everything then wet dry vacced it and then put baking soda on everything then vacuumed that up. Then put carpet fresh on everything and vacced that up after the third thing it smelled like a motel and that was a better smell.

Another vote for an ozone generator. Make sure to let it sit out for an hour or so after shutting it off so you don’t burn your lungs.

just start smoking and you won't notice it

i bought a new car that's pretty similar to an altima for less than 20k in 2019... and per kbb it's worth more than i paid for it (30k miles)

You can get most of it out with a wet vac and ozone treatment but it will still smell sort of smokey on hot days when you had your windows up. It will probably never 100% go away, but you can get it mostly gone.
You can also try Ozium, I have heard that works for some people.

Can't believe that no one has mentioned changing the cabin air filter.
That can go a long way in changing how the interior of a car smells....

I’ve done it before. Febreeze the whole car with the windows cracked and let it sit for a few days. Usually does the trick
