Is It Possible For A Driver Not To Be Able To Get Auto Insurance?

I have never heard of anyone unable to get auto insurance, but if someone has a bad driving record (several wrecks within a few years, several speeding tickets, etc) could they put themselves in position to not be able to get it? Or will they get it and just have to pay a lot for it?

No. I know a guy with a suspended and revoked license but he don't believe in not having insurance.
He pays like $165 a month for minimum though.

Have to pay extra for an SR-22 if you have a DWI

Very expensive if you have a poor record. That could prevent someone from having it. Tons of idiots out there that don't have insurance and they are the scum of the earth.

This is sort of the reason I am asking this. Just wondering if there were people on the road who don't have insurance just because they can't get it..
I wouldn't mind if there were random insurance checks and if you don't have insurance they haul your car off or something. Make it a big headache so that people who don't have insurance will be less likely to drive. I'd rather that than inspection sticker checks.

If you’re caught driving without insurance, the car you’re driving can be impounded. There’s no law against owning an uninsured vehicle as long as it isn’t being driven.

So if we broke his fingers we’d be benefiting drivers and posters?

A more accurate clip would be Oweo saying "hey watch this" and then just rolling around slowly for 10 minutes and not doing anything interesting at all and then saying "at least I'm doing something to start a conversation".

I believe an SR-22 is for these kind of people. When I was 19-20, I had a couple of wrecks that were my fault and I had to get something that was called “assigned risk” insurance. Insurance companies were required to take idiots like me for a greatly-inflated rate. I was probably paying $3000.00 per year for comprehensive only. This was in the 90’s.

There's an "assigned risk" program for drivers that are turned down for insurance due to their driving record. If they qualify (there is criteria - maybe competition of court ordered treatment, driving program), the department of insurance will "assign" them to an insurance company, hence the name of the program. Each company is assigned drivers based on their market share and can't refuse. For example, if a company has 20% of drivers in the state, they'll get assigned 20% of the assigned risk drivers.
The assigned insurance company charges a premium based on the driver's record so it'll definitely be high. The company can cancel the policy for cause so it's a one strike deal. If that happens it's likely the driver won't get back in the program.

100% correct. And I'm guessing you're in the insurance biz too.
