Is it okay to pursue a girl already in a relationship?

(Disclaimer: This has nothing to do with my running thread. We're happy and are going out again this weekend
)
I've currently on my first watch of The Office. Early season 4, so the show is still exploring the aftermath of Pam and Jim finally getting together. I've always been interested in romance (500 Days of Summer and Annie Hall being among some of my favorite movies) so this love story line is in my wheelhouse. I keep finding myself going back to the scene where Jim finally tells Pam how he feels. And damn, what a scene it is. No cheesy music. Just Jim manning up and letting it fly. We see the conflict fill Pam's face as she lets Jim down. Jim sheds some tears and sulks away. The end? Nope. After a couple of minutes on Michael Scott's weird love triangle we come back to Pam and Jim in the office. BAM!. Jim lays one of the most forceful, yet respectful kisses ever on Pam. This show isn't messing around with this story.
Would this ever work in real life in this situation? Is Pam, an engaged woman who has dated this man for years, in too deep? A couple of prefaces. Both the viewers and Jim know that Pam isn't invested in relationship with Roy. Everyone , including Pam, knows that she is better off not being in this relationship. Does this make Jim's actions better? The two have flirted for years and might be closer than the average man who may want to pursue a woman in a relationship. Does this impact Jim's decision, thinking she would be less likely to freak out?
Obviously not talking about going after a married woman. I believe most people would consider this hands off. Also begs the question, what does 'pursue' even mean? Was Jim pursuing Pam, or just laying it out there for her to weigh. Did the kiss go to far? Would love to hear some stories on this.

In my experiences the engaged girl hooks up with you and then marries the guy anyway.

I definitely wouldn’t pursue it like I would somebody that’s single, but if she takes her clothes off and asks me to bang her I'm not gonna say no if her bf is some random dude.

the juice better be worth the squeeze. if you think she's worth fighting for, you fight.

I pursued my wife when she was dating someone else. They had only been dating a short time and had only been on a few dates though, far from an exclusive thing. That guy was pissed though when she told him she was no longer interested.

You better hope you actually want her, or end up like J.D.... LINK

I guess it kind of depends on how happy she is in her relationship. But get ready to deal with some pissed off dude!

Just whip out your dick. You have a 50-50 shot. She’ll either jump on it or say no

Depends how far in the relationship she is and what you want from the girl.
If she is just casually dating someone. Sure go for it.
If she is in a pretty deep relationship with someone, don't go for it unless you just want a hook up. If she is willing to break a very invested relationship with him, she can and may do the same to you.

I'm in an interesting pickle myself. COuple of years ago me and this girl were talking... had everything in common... basically the same person.. it was crazy at how similar we were... we hooked up. stayed at her house all weekend... left... she then starts dating this other guy ( they're still together now)
I messaged her the other day randomly asking how she was and how her classroom is ( she's an elementary school teacher) this year. I ask if she;s engaged and she said no. His mom thinks shes a huge bitch.
She then goes on to say " you know I think about it all the time, what if me and this guy hadn't started dating... this is in the back of my mind constantly."
I never knew she felt that way . Not sure how to proceed. ( No pics)

If you can legit call yourself an upgrade over him, go for it.

Are you a writer?
Between this and your post-race post, you should be a writer.

No, for a variety of reasons but mainly if she’s willing to cheat or leave a man for you, she’ll do it again on you

She sounds like the type of girl that would post daily baby updates on Facebook
