Is it normal for college teachers to put smiley faces on papers?

I'm not the traditional student. I'm 28 and a first time student after being in the military. I thought at first it was a bit weird, but then it happened in another class.

College professors are a mixed bag. You'll find all shapes sizes and types throughout 4-5 years of undergrad

I have taken probably 140 classes, and I can't remember ever getting a smiley face put on one of my papers. I did have this good looking TA chick for one class that used to write sarcastic responses on my lab reports because I'd say random dumb shite in them
