You microwave steak?

If I’m going to warm something up slowly, I’ll use the oven or air fryer. Microwave is for quick heating

I reheat sliced in a skillet with it air fryer. Can’t imagine using a microwave except for say roast with gravy etc.

Most modern microwaves have horribly underrated “reheat” settings that combine variable power with a moisture sensor. If you’ve never used it, give it a shot. The options are either on the display, or on less fancy models, usually printed on the face of the microwave where the door closes against.
Eta: Though I’ve never actually tried reheating a steak in the microwave, so no promises on that

I do high for about 20-30 seconds then move to the toaster oven.

Absolutely. I rarely go over 30 percent for anything being warmed back up.
And never do pizza in the microwave. Reheat pizza in a preheated pan with a little bit of water dropped in and cover immediately after. Like it just came out of the oven. Keep just a tad bit of water to make steam in the covered pan.

My wife likes hers absolutely nuked. I do like you. If I give hers to her and it’s not scorched she makes me put it back in. I do mine to where it just gets hot enough and I let it sit for a minute so that the heat evens out.

is it better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all?

I don’t know how many times I had mentioned to the young ones here to go with low and slow for better results. Glad to see you write this post. And, the device was basically ignored because they wanted to hurry the process.
Imagine typing this as a generational dig while discussing microwaving a steak.

I don't even know how to change the temp setting on mine. The only button I ever touch is the "add 30 sec" button

Like with a leftover, nice, medium rare steak.
Post this on the F&DB and watch it self-destruct...

Depends on temperature of item to start with. Room temperature high is okay, but if it is out fridge I do lower and slower.

air fry/toaster over reheat setting FTW
Posted on 8/2/23 at 11:03 am to HubbaBubba
Reheating anything, I usually use power level 7; plates, bowls, meat usually for 1:10-2:35 minutes. Meat does not take on the texture of dry shoe leather, but maintains pinkness and moisture. Full power (wife doctrine) creates dry, tasteless meat every time.

Anything you're microwaving will be done before the oven or air fryer is done heating up.

Mine has a dinner plate setting that I use most of the time. It is a low power that alternates whatever it does. Stays on for a bit and off for a bit. Anyway, it works great, but never makes it past the calculating part of the process. It is the only microwave/microwave setting I've ever had that won't blow up baked beans. It warms everything evenly without drying it out.

I want to know where the hell all you people are finding leftover steak? What even is that?

I argue this with my wife. She always uses high setting. I use low and slow.
If she is like my wife she doesn't understand how to use a Microwave efficiently.

I thought the point of a microwave is to heat up something quickly?
