Is it acceptable to invite someone to a party you are not hosting?

My wife is wanting to invite a couple that she is friends with to the Super Bowl party we are going to that is being hosted by my friends. I said no that’s weird and now she’s in a mood. Who’s right here?

Why doesn’t she just check with the hosts first?

Completely unacceptable without checking with the hosts, and even then, they will say "Yes" and talk about you.

You don't know them well, they're just your wife's acquaintances?

If the hosts are really good friends and they know the people then it's cool to just ask them if they mind.

If both of those things don't apply, then no.

It's okay if they are porn actors and actresses.

You’re absolutely right, and it seems that any semi-normal adult would understand that. That “now she’s in a mood” shite just caused me to have a nice exhale of relief that I don’t have to put up with that shite anymore.

You’re always wrong. But no, it’s not acceptable without asking the host.

Only with the permission of the hosts. It is rude to ask the hosts if she can invite others but even more rude to invite them without the host's knowledge or consent.

Is she a yankee? Seems any southern woman would know you can’t just invite people to another gathering without first asking the hosts and even then only if they know each other.

Just ask the frickin host. They might actually want more people to show up, they might not. Only one way to find out.
