No but then you do a great job of selling why it may be in this case.

It's not abnormal.

My old man wanted to purchase his when it came onto the market about five years ago. My grandparents sold it in 1993. Some lady bought it for her parents, who both passed away in recent years. The lady then ended up in federal prison for embezzlement and tax fraud. She lost the house and it came up for Sheriff's auction. My old man was really interested, but it would have been too much of a financial burden. A family moved in and they keep the place nice so it all turned out okay in the end.

The house I grew up in will be torn down eventually. When my old man retired a few years ago, they sold the place and got the hell out of Baton Rouge. The person who bought it plans on knocking it down and building a McMansion in its place. It is a big lot for Baton Rouge (a little over an acre). It was a good house with great memories, but I wouldn't want the upkeep on it (built in the early 1950's).

i am currently living in my childhood home. in Nov 2017 mom moved to the ATX area to live with sister and the only grandbaby (my brother moved to north Austin not long after). i moved into her house with the gf and basically we pay rent into a fund and use that money to pay for taxes and to improve the house.

i do not want to buy this house. it's not like shitty or anything but it's old, no subfloor so it's just raised with wood flooring. since it's old, nothing is a standard size. i think there are people who would love to live in an old home (it has all the "old home" stuff like high ceilings, original wood flooring, etc), but i have realized it's not for me

I wish I could purchase the antebellum home I grew up in. 6500 sq ft on a bayou, wrap around porch, train depot from 1856 in front yard where a railroad used to run. Circular driveway and one of those big dinner bells in front yard, still had 2 slabs from sharecropper houses on the property. Wasn’t on the historical register my parents didn’t want to spend the extra money to keep the house fully original by the registers standards. Owners after we moved out tore down a beautiful house to build a modern million dollar home on that great lot. At least they saved the hardwood floors, columns and hand carved fireplace mantles to use in the new home. My mom was raging mad, never saw her that upset. She loved that house

The house my parents live in is the one we moved to when I was in 4th grade, so it's a childhood home too.

It's in Central and it's a nice house. But Central is in Baton Rouge which is in Louisiana, so still nope.

I understand people make more money in Cali but how much more? How can people afford housing there?
