Yes, it's a great idea to carry Narcan. Not necessarily for yourself, but nowadays there's a higher chance you are somewhere and someone else will need it. Happened to me last year at a bar.
Now as a firefighter I can tell you the "just touching it" exposure isn't nearly as bad as cops make it. And to be clear, cops are the ones who act like contact with Fentanyl is immediate death. It is not. It's actually pretty difficult to overdose on almost anything just from contact. It's a scare tactic they use, and I honestly can't blame them.

ut I keep reading people are overdosing just for coming into contact.

anyone who grew up in the 90s remember during the AIDS scare rumors of people sticking their hands in pay phone change slots with a pin of "AIDS blood" onn it and a sign that read "congrats you now have AIDS" when it pierced your skin? or it being in movie theatre seats?

scared the hell out of me as a kid

will you start seeing dusting like they do in south america. Where someone blows a powder in your face to drug you?

You would get a better reaction if you posted this in a FaceBook moms group.

Unless they were actually doing lines (or otherwise ingesting it directly into their bodies), any negative health consequences were absolutely psychosomatic.

That said, I would probably plan to have narcan available if I were still sniffing blow. Too much risk otherwise. Also, I think there is a test kit that's available on the interwebz. Either that or narcan would be part of my hookers and blow kit.

It’s very deadly but the single grain can kill a whole party is just police fed bullshite

Granted it’s a game of building tolerances but people shoot up straight fent, the odds of overdosing from accidentally touching it for the everyday person have to be staggeringly low

Though carrying narcan would look bad too.

Though I’m not sure I agree here. We all come into contact with a lot of folks. It’s not an addition I’d judge in the realm of simply being prepared to help someone.

This and I’m not sure why this myth still exists. You can look at the downvotes when other posters mentioned this in the thread.

Is Narcan hard to get? My cousin is going thru a rough spell with opiates. His old lady called my other cousin, his brother, all freaked out the other day because her old man was unresponsive. Both his brother and I were immediately like, "You know he's a addict, and you don't have Narcan in the house"

Carrying a Narcan pen is going to be like the military carrying a tourniquet. It isn't for you to use on someone else it's for someone else to use on you. You get exposed enough to need it you won't be able to use it. But really how many non drug users are getting saved from accidental exposer?

This is true to an extent.

I would say it's a more real threat than any of that ever was. People only heard the stories of those things you mentioned on the news, for the most part - maybe a couple of real cases that got the media hype and it went "viral", for lack of a better word.

That said, the majority of people in this country have been effected by or know someone that has been effected by opiates/opioid. This isn't some made up media hysteria. It's an actual problem that has effected the majority of this country in one way or another.

That said, I believe the media has an obligation to report facts (which doesn't exists anymore). It's true that fentanyl is very deadly. It's true that a small dose of fentanyl can kill you. It's a very dangerous drug and if they would just report the facts, there'd by no need for the exaggeration.

Who ever told you that is stupid and you even more so to believe it. Cops don't do shite that you see in movies or television. I know because I asked a buddy who may or may not be an undercover drug detective how they determine what is in the 'bag'.... taste testing was not the answer.
