Is Houston any better than Atlanta?

Seems like most baws on here are quick to shite on ATL but defend Houston.
I haven't been to Houston enough to really comment, but it seems like a flatter, slightly hotter version of ATL with not as much tree cover. Seems like the demographics and infrastructure are similar, with ATL having the slight edge as far as public transport (not saying much). Are there fun things to do there besides go to Astros games and Top Golf?
Purely curious. Job market there seems pretty hot.

This board routinely shits on Houston

I've spent decent time in both. I think they both suck as far as cities go.
Hope this helps

Houston is Dallas's bitch

Every city has positives and negatives. What matters is how the city works for you, not the baw on this board whining about how bad it is.

Ive lived in Houston. (for work)
Wouldnt want to live there again.
Would never want to live in Atlanta.

Modest upgrade in people/demographics, but not like a Dallas upgrade. Modest upgrade in suburbs. Modest economic upgrade.
Significant downgrade in weather, topography, aesthetics, proximity to desirable locations.
I'm sure individuals will have their individual priorities that make one a clear cut winner over the other, but trying to be as neutral as I can, I don't think either's argument would be persuasive in trying to get someone to relocate from one to the other.

Houston is terrible. That’s all I’ve got.

ATL > Houston by a mile

For the most part the people here who shite on the actual city of Atlanta haven't been here in ages or went somewhere downtown which is a legit shithole with nothing of value. No reason to even visit downtown Atlanta now with all the stuff in Midtown, Eastside Beltline neighborhoods, etc.
People from outside Georgia aren't aware of the demographic shift happening in Atlanta - both in the city core and in the suburbs. They are trending in completely opposite directions.

Houston gets shite on a lot, but it's actually a great city.

Which counties in particular are you referring to? Cobb, Gwinnett, Fulton?

I have heard about good restaurants and bars but I need something to entertain kids that are not old enough to be impressed by that and not young enough to do kid activities.

I really like Houston. I’m in the minority, but have lived in several cities, including Austin, and my vote is for Houston. Granted, I live in the Woodlands now, but I lived for a few years downtown.
Yes, it’s flat and hot. I guess I hate the cold so doesn’t bother me. Good golf, good food, good infrastructure, economy, and minimal crime compared to most big cities. All the major sports to follow. Good, conservative population and closer to family in Louisiana (which is the definition of a shithole)
Atlanta prob has better public transportation with the MARTA, but I always live close to work so doesn’t bother me.

ATL has better suburbs, City center wise, Houston is better, IMO

Houston has just about or more tree cover than Atlanta. Plus, it’s more apparent in the winter because Atlanta looks like Michigan without snow on the ground during the winter.
My issue is people rag on Houston but then go and praise other cities like Dallas with arguably worse sprawl, more concrete strip malls, etc.

All of the suburbs are increasingly minority but that's been happening for a while.
The main reason it won't really matter that much is because in time, everything shifts in Atlanta. Aside from in town neighborhoods (genuinely residential streets), everything desirable will eventually go south. And even in the neighborhoods, you'll have 1000s of felons transiting the areas around your hood on a daily basis. Just how it is here.

Mostly Cobb and Gwinnett. Fulton is a bit different because the southern part of the county isn't city of Atlanta the middle is and the northern part isn't. North Fulton is much better than even Cobb now. Gwinnett is a shithole that is full of Illegal Immigrants (with thousands more on the way) and Liberals. Cobb is getting lots of Libs as well and other undesirables. I literally lol when I look at the demographics of Cobb and Gwinnett now compared to even 10 years ago. Those once good school systems are headed to shite with a few exceptions.
